My uncle arranged a visit to this lovely railway - which surprisingly my husband had never ridden on even though we grew up in near by Deal. It was a cold day and apparently there was a visiting loco "Katie" that was causing a lot of men in anoraks to turn out (we spotted them in the most remote locations).... More

We visited the railway for its end of season parade and it was thoroughly enjoyable although perhaps I am a little biased. We had relatives who once lived in a cottage in Dungeness and the train would pass by the front garden on a regular basis much to the sheer excitement and enjoyment of our children when they were all... the RH&DR located in Kent has been in existence since the 1920's and runs for 13.5 miles from Hythe to Dungeness, it houses a variety of miniature mainline locomotives all designed by Henry Greenly between the 20's and 30's and are all based on full size steam engines both from the UK and Canada. it welcomes dogs and is a... This is a must see attraction for both adults and children. A day ticket will get you to Dungeness for the lighthouses and power station. There's a café there with reasonably priced food, Stopped off in New Romney for the free model railway exhibition and shop and a cup of tea. The scenery from the railway is not that great... More

The Railway isn't just another steam train through the country, its long enough to go through a variety of scenery (and sheep), and in the summer trains are so regular you can explore. I heartily recommend the trip from New Romney to Dymchurch as a way of doing this. Park at New Romney get the train to Dymchurch, then enjoy... More

When my family came over from America, I thought this was the perfect option for traveling to Dungeness from New Romney. My only concern was the comfort of my VERY tall nephew, but he was able to fit nicely and had a some extra headroom! It was a fun outing and I recommend the little railway to any who visit... More

Drove to Dungeness, parked up and boarded the train, went all the way to Hythe 13 1/2 miles, so we could see all the journey, and decide where to get on and off, on the way back. Walked along the canal at Hythe, before returning, to New Romney, where you can look at Model Railway Exhibition/ Museum, and Engine Sheds.... More

It was easy to find and well sign posted with free parking The station was well equipped for children and the elderly whither plenty to occupy your time if waiting for the train All stations on route seemed to have a cafe that was reasonably priced and of a good quality (main line stations should take note). The train ride... More
