Had this been a normal day out then I probably would have given it 4 or 5 stars, but we went on the Halloween special and it is because of this that I am marking the experience down slightly. We had a lovely ride on the train to Dungeness which is breathtaking in its own way. A quick visit to... More

My daughters bought me the "Driver Taster" course for my 70th birthday. It lasts three hours and you are on the footplate of one of the steam engines with a driver for the entire ride from Romney to Hythe, back along the line to Dungeness, and then back to Romney. Part of the time you are allowed to drive the... More

Brilliant if you like old railways and visiting various old towns along the way. A great alternative method of seeing the marshes and wildlife.

Having spent many hours on full sized preserved railways, or narrow gauge Mountain railways in Wales and Cumbria, this was a first - mainline style tender locos in narrow gauge. Loco's in use (Winston Churchill and Doctor Syn) were immaculate, coaches a little less so. Very good museum, with large model railway - with loco's running from around the world.... More

I rode the rails years ago as a child and recently to see it it would prompt memory's for my father with dementia. We ran the full length of the line out to Dungeness. The weather for October was kind which was just as well as the carriages have no heating even though we had doors. Carriages are smaller than... More

We visited the station and museum. We were there later in the afternoon, so didn't have time for a trip on the train. The museum has lots of interesting models and information about trains and a huge model railway with lots of trains etc. Very interesting to be taken bakc to my childhood with trains. We had tea and a... More

Took our granddaughter on the train today and enjoyed the experience. Staff were very informative and the engine driver explained how everything worked. The return journey was just a bit too long. Should have started at New Romney not Hythe.

My son had a footplate experience so my daughter and I rode in the carriage. We stayed on the same train, but we could have hopped on and off with our day rover tickets. It was quite a long journey taking 3 hours to do the whole round trip. The train stops at Dungeness for 25 minutes and there is... More

I have wanted to visit this attraction for years and never found the time, now our daughter has treated my wife and I. An absolutely fun day, grown ups and steam trains , nothing better.
