Even if you think you've had your fill of 'heritage' railways, this one is a must. The locomotives are one third real size and the tiny carriages cram in a surprising number of full sized people ! The journey is quite amazing, expecially on such a small train, as it travels the 13 1⁄2-mile track through the countryside, alongside back... More

We hired the bar car "Gladys" for a family event recently, and travelled from New Romney to Dungeness and then Dungeness to Hythe and back to New Romney. We were offered the opportunity to decorate the car the night before if we wished and were given a variety of options as to the journeys we could take and the services... More

We went to the New Romney station, which is also the headquarters of the railway company itself. Here, there is not only a station, but also a museum showing the history of the railroad (including how it was used during the Battle of Britain) and also a large model railway. Great fun for kids (and some adults alike) to look... More

The ride itself is a bit bumpby but that adds to the excitment of the adventure. it takes about an hour altogether from one end to another and passes through lovely scenery. you can just go for a ride or stop off at any station to explore more of that area. there are only two trains but thats efficient as... We bought rover tickets which allowed us to hop on and off trains all day. We went from Dungeness up to Hythe and then worked our way back. At Dymchurch there was a nice sandy beach, cafes and fairground so everyone was happy. The model railway museum (free to enter with a rover ticket) and play park at New Romney... More

Great day out for the family. We went from Romney to Dymchurch which is a good little trip and means you can go to the beach and small fun fair for an hour or two. Plenty of little cafes and a few shops in Dymchurch. The railway itself is beautifully maintained and the staff are so friendly and cheerful. Good... More

Narrow gauge rail experiences are not uncommon in the UK, but are not that easy to find in England. The R, H and D Railway is to be found in the southernmost part of Kent, around 15 minutes by bus from Folkestone nestled against the British coastline. What you'll find when you get there is one of the most fascinating... More

I've been to the RHDR many times, but it always draws me back. The family aren't so keen on railways, but there is always something for them too - the tea rooms are very reasonable. and plenty for younger children to enjoy. The train ride itself is always thrilling - being so close to the ground, it seems much faster... More

My wife and I had a wonderful day on this miniature railway, the staff were extremely pleasant very helpful and only to pleased to answer questions. There were six engines in steam plus one diesel, all pulling matched sets of open and closed carriages.. The ride is very good the track is very well maintained. We had lunch at the... More
