Just had a great 3 day trip to Sandwich with friends and played Princes twice which was great and very welcoming, but our obvious highlight was St Georges for 18 holes and the course certainly did not disappoint - truly exceptional and caddy master, starter, and club house staff all very courteous and helpful. Did you sense a but though? Well you are correct - the professional Justin Fiddler was an absolute disgrace to the club and his position, quite the rudest and unsuited person for the job - and it felt that he went out of his way to be unhelpful and make us feel in some way inferior, I have played golf for 60+ years at many clubs equally as prestigious as this and never been treated or spoken to in such a disdainful manner.

Played here at the reduced rate for winter, all be it still fairly pricey. I’ve played Royal Birkdale recently and that was brilliant, and playing any Open course is a brilliant experience you’ll never forget. I arrived at what is a slightly small and somewhat tired in parts car park and had to park in what I guess is an overflow car park but poorly signposted. The staff member in pro shop was really nice and helpful and you get a leather tee pouch with tees, metal ball marker and pitch fork and a yardage book, very handy and a nice touch! I was able to go out earlier and the caddy master was also very friendly and helpful! Don’t believe the reviews saying it’s all stuffy but I didn’t venture into the jacket and tie after 11 clubhouse at all!! The course was great and very relaxed with hardly anyone playing, I was able to hit around 3 balls on every hole :) and practice from all around. The mat thing in the winter is not a big deal at all. The greens were longer than usual but still rolled very well and fairways and tees were immense. I’d recommend playing here if you can find a sunny still day like I did then the course is really very gettable and enjoyable!

I had a spare day in London after a work trip and I was excited to get a tee time at Royal St. Georges on a Monday afternoon in October. I arranged for a caddy and rental clubs. And when you arrange to hire clubs you get multiple choices of sets of clubs that most match what you play at home. I went with the Titleist AP1 set with regular shafts and a Scotty Cameron putter. I took an early morning train from London for my 12:20 tee time. I arrived at the train station in plenty of time. I walked to the club from the station. About 1.5 miles but I could have arranged for a cab, though I enjoyed the neighborhoods and farms along the way. With plenty of time I hit balls on the range, shopped in the golf shop and putted and chipped to get warmed up. I went off with my caddy James right on time. The weather held for the entire round. Got some nice wind to make it a normal British golf experience. James was an awesome companion for the day and I would request him if available. We played the front nine in 1:15 minutes and we didn't rush. Easy course to walk. There were more groups on the back we caught up with but still finished in 3 hours. The staff was delightful all along the way. I wish I had time to stay and have dinner at the club.

Myself and a friend were lucky enough to be invited for a round of golf at Royal St George’s golf Club on Tuesday 8/10/19. As you are probably aware St George’s is on the R&As Open rota and will be holding the 2020 Open. On this corner of the Kent coast we are blessed to have four of the great links course’s in the UK , Princes , Royal Cinque Ports and Littlestone. I can say in no uncertain terms that St George’s is by far the superior . The Fairways , bunkers and greens are in fantastic condition. The definition of fairways and framing of holes is a joy to behold . The members , committee and staff can be very proud of a wonderful course . P Norris Folkestone Kent .

What an awesome place to play golf. If you can, you must try this, there are great stay and play deals to be had with Prince’s and it’s definitely worth the trip. Before I talk about the course though I’d like to say something about the team. I’ve played golf around the world and on lots of courses that have big reputations on tour. I have yet to meet a team that have been so friendly, welcoming and accommodating as this team at Royal St George’s. From the guy on the gate directing us to a temporary visitors car park, the pro shop, the caddy master, the starter, the marshall and the very kind member of staff who directed me to the locker room when I inadvertently entered the clubhouse through the wrong door. On reflection we actually provided a few innocent opportunities to bring out the “jobs worth” response you might imagine you’d get from this kind of establishment. Instead, we got first class, friendly service from start to finish. A great job from the whole team. Thank you! And then the course....wow! Considering the fact that the Open Championship will be held here in 2020, we experienced amazing fairways picked out in emerald against the straw coloured wispy rough. The greens were true but just a little slower than we’d have preferred but then we played in a 4 club wind so maybe not such a bad thing. The greens are huge and with their undulations, create a whole new game when you find them. Can’t wait to watch the Open after this experience and I can’t wait to go back and play this course again. You can feel the history of these great links as you walk and play through them. A first class experience in every way.
