Great!

Exactly what you want in a micro-pub. Especially the layout that requires you to walk the length of the room to order

This is a very small pub but packs in a good range of real ales and local draught ciders (and wine too now). Quality of beer and cider was top notch and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. We visited on New Year's Day and it was open unlike plenty of other places. The atmosphere was lovely. It's cosy but... More

Fantastic little micro pub! The staff are very knowledgeable with the variety of beers and ciders sold. The staff , even on a busy night served at the tables. Reasonable prices for good quality beers and ciders!! Would be a micro pub I would recommend to all visitors to Whitstable

Was pleased to find this place open on Boxing Day evening (no other pubs were). Enjoyed some ale then moved onto cider, of which I'm not normally all that keen but as they have an extensive menu it seemed a good idea to sample. Wow, the spiced cider was just wonderful: still, fragrant and delicious. The apple pie cider was... More

My partner and I were in Whitstable for a few days last weekend. We were strolling around the lovely town, late Saturday afternoon and the embers of the wood burner in the window of The Black Dog caught our eye. It's not immediately obvious that this is a pub. But, anywhere with a real fire, gets my vote. Stylish, humorous... More

We love spending a few weekend each year taking in the ambiance of Whitstable. The Black Dog is always on our list of visits. Make sure you book a B&B as it easy to get carried away with all the great tasting ales on offer.
