Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My fav “local” in Lancashire! Not a traditional pub but full of grownups with character, wry affable owner/brewmaster, no kicking off or loud talk tolerated, and the quirkiest range of live music ANYWHERE. Try the creamy dark Smokey Joe - especially around Christmas when Barry adds a dash of rum to the cask…

Modern style brewery producing a range of fine quality real ales. The brewery tap is on Bridge Street in Darwen where at least 4 ales are on hand pull at any one time along with occasional guest beers and ciders.

Went to this restaurant last night. Unfortunately couldn't list under name of actual restaurant, as named above. There is also a pub on ground level. It belongs to Hopstar Brewery. It was a delightful visit. We had Ribeye steaks, can recommend. It was an excellent, freshly cooked meal. The service and welcome was brilliant. Will be returning. This restaurant is quite a new addition, but I can see it going places. Prices are reasonable. The Hopstar brewery also serve delicious real ales, which can be brought to your table. We also sampled a couple of real ales in the bar downstairs afterwards. Nice friendly atmosphere all round. Darwen is where the nightlife is now. Great experience, much enjoyed.

First thing is, get the 39 Lounge on Trip Advisor as a separate entity because otherwise potential customers can't find it. The downstairs bar is small, cosy and sells excellent ales at excellent prices with great bar staff and friendly customers, we've been here quite a few times and love it. We've only had a meal in the restaurant once but we'll definitely go again. The menu is small but has on steak, chicken and pork as well as a few starters and desserts. Both me and my wife's steaks were first class and for 2 beers, a bottle of wine, 2 mains and 1 dessert came to under £50! The server was first class and she was very helpful and the only (small) quibble I have was that my wife didn't get a fork with her spoon with her dessert. A very enjoyable experience and we will definitely be returning sooner rather than later.

Go here regularly to watch live music, very intimate atmosphere with some great musicians. The beer is always tip top and at £2.20 a pint cant be beaten. They have opened a restaurant upstairs recently - not yet tried.

First tried out the pub because my great nephew had a music gig one evening. I was really impressed with the place, good company, the proprietor was extremely friendly and informative, a great selection of tasty beers to be tested and free nibbles on the bar. I understand there is now food available upstairs which I have yet to try.
A variety of musicians can also be on tap.

Haven't yet had a meal at this bar but will soon because some customers have said it is brilliant
The bar itself we love don't go often because not in our area but made welcome all the time
Took our two small dogs last time and they were given treats by the bar staff
Probably the most comfortably relaxing bar you could go inn not a pub but a bar tou could even be abroad that's how we feel when we are ther
Will try the food soon menu looks impressive
