Quite a major landmark, lines up with the smaller lighthouse on the promenade to guide boats into the River Wyre. Not open to the public which is a pity as the views would be magnificent.

Not many towns the size of Fleetwood have two lighthouses. This one is about fifty metres inland from the promenade and easy to walk around. The other is not far away on the sea front and well preserved

I had been given quite a build up to the Pharos lighthouse but when I got there I was disappointed. It was just a column close to an area of downtown Fleetwood by the same name

Although this lighthouse is not accessible on the inside you cannot fail to admire this 93 foot building from the outside. It is made of sandstone, was built in 1839 and stands proud alongside the tram tracks.
