Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Possibly the premier, free beach wheelchair base in the UK. Its free to all users, and staffed by great volunteers. Easy access to Fleetwood beach they have at the last count some 10 specialist chairs to cater for the needs of most users. Not only is it a wheechair service, its much more with information and free beach activity goods for users... A fantastic service for both young and old.

From the first phone call to book a wheelchair the staff have been nothing but amazing! We hired a wheelchair for our mum who hasn’t been able to go on a beach for over 8 years. We arrived and were met by a lovely lady who explained how the chairs work and about the tide, best places to go on the beach and even how we could take my mum in the sea in the wheelchair if she wanted. Another lady helped us transfer my mum into the wheelchair and fasted the straps. We completed the paperwork and we were off. The staff even walk down to the beach to support you getting in safely. Once on the beach we had a great time as a family. On returning the beach wheelchair again all the staff were so helpful. They even have a changing places bathroom for customers use. Honestly it was the best experience we have had and to be able to get mum on the beach was just wonderful. If you have or know a wheelchair user I would highly recommend hiring a beach wheelchair. We can’t wait to go back!

I rarely rave about anywhere but this is a service that goes above and beyond. The choice of chairs is fantastic and they have all sorts of things they can add on to a chair to make it fit better or be more comfortable.
As for the people……..they are the nicest, kindest and friendliest people you could ever wish to meet. Nothing is too much trouble.
The service is free but a donation towards the place is a very appropriate gesture though they never ask for anything.
The beach wheelchair is amazingly easy to push and our granddaughter loved every minute. You can even push it into the sea.
Thank you so much everybody. We will certainly be back.

We visited to check out the chairs available prior to our son visiting with his support staff. It was instantly clear what lovely people the Beach Wheelchair team are. They are dedicated to enabling people with disabilities being able to access the beach and have a lovely time. The volunteers who we spoke to were so kind, helpful and committed that I was actually moved to tears They have a wide range of chairs / equipment available and will do their utmost to ‘fit’ people with the best one for their needs. There is a Changing Place next door. Our son went a couple of weeks later with his support workers and he absolutely loved his time on the beach - his first time in years!! They too commented how lovely and helpful the volunteers were and that they couldn’t do enough for them on the day. I am amazed and humbled that this service is free but we would encourage you to make a donation each time you visit. Thank you so much to the Beach Wheelchair team !!!

My day out on the beach at Fleetwood was an absolutely fantastic experience as a wheelchair user myself it is very rare for me to get on a beach. So I am very grateful to the organisers at Fleetwood Beach Wheelchairs who make it possible for people like myself to enjoy a day at the seaside to be with my friends on the beach at the same time, instead of me having to sit on the promenade looking after the bags, also they provide this service totally free, they have a variety of chairs and walkers to use as well and is situated right next door to a changing place to help those of us who need such a facility, they also have a hoist for those that can’t transfer from one chair to another, the beach itself is beautiful location with a great view of Cumbria and North Yorkshire although a bit chilly at the moment I had a fantastic time being pushed around by my friends and the beach wheelchair was also very comfortable and felt like I was in a moon buggy, the staff at the wheelbase were very helpful as well and so friendly I really couldn’t fault them.

To all at FBW thank you for making my trip to the seaside and Fleetwood a very memorable time

This is an amazing charity which offer beach wheelchairs ( for a donation) so that disabled people can access the beach at Fleetwood. My mum (who has MND) was able to visit the beach today with all of her family. She told me the experience was ' wonderful'. Thankyou to all the volunteers who we met today who made my mum's day. They were all very helpful and professional. This is a charity that needs further funding so that it can be available at all beaches.
