Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Free to visit .I loved the architectural building and the history behind the generosity of Carnegie. My first time to the town so was interested in its history . Although it is well laid out because of the children’s activities it wasn’t possible to get up to some of the exhibits .I learnt about the expression To paint the town red .Maybe because I wasn’t with children none of the staff spoke to me ,i didn’t feel welcome .

Small but very interesting museum. I am in an electric wheelchair and the facilities were fine for using the chair. The museum was free to get in, the staff were very nice and helpful. Parking was good, not specifically for the museum, but for the shops close by

Gem of a museum. There's shop displays for a pie maker, a Stilton cheese maker and a chemist. The History of Melton Mowbray is covered with very useful information boards. And several screens with old photographs accompanied by more info. Very nicely done, the funding they received for their renovation has been well spent. I will definitely revisit as I didn't get round all the screens and exhibits.

Interesting visit to a small local museum. Free to enter. There seemed a lot of things for kids to do and hopefully learn something along the way. Lots of local history items old shops and historic events and the famous 'two headed calf'.

A great local museum. I had a 2 day break in Melton as I had never been before. I was really impressed by this museum. Very good displays, understandable, and up to date. Lovely welcome from lady on front desk. To be honest I expected a few old oil paintings of people I had never heard of and maybe a bit of pie history, but this really went much more than that. It really is worth a visit - I wont spoil the fun in exploring it, but I loved the bits about "old meltonians" - if that's the right term! Monty Python connection I never knew about. Wow.

As a smalll town museum it has a lot to offer and gives a good introduction to Melton Mowbray and it's heritage.
There is a range of artefacts that are related to the area and these date from pre-Roman to relatively modern times.
You can park outside for an hour which is probably long enough.
Well worth a vist if you're nearby.

Called in here on visit to the town. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and very well put together displays. One of the best museums we have visited, with lots of local information.

Enjoyed our time visiting Melton Mowbray's museum. We started off by doing the Melton Mowbray Heritage Trail around the town and then went into the museum. It was busy and packed full of items that brought back many memories. A nice little museum to wander round and while an hour or two.

Great little local museum with some really interesting exhibits of old Melton and surrounding villages. Brilliant for children in the holidays with loads of activities for them to take part in. Excellent toilets if the need arrises.
