Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A not so little gem. Fantastic collection from stone age to 1960s. Everyone will find something of interest here.

A great museum for kids to enjoy. Lots of space to learn new things with lots of activities to get involved in.
Nice area for babies and younger children.
Experience the World war II shelter and hear the sirens. Listen to people talk about the war and find out about the history of the Steel works.
Friendly and helpful staff to support and guide you. Bright and colourful displays of artefacts.
A fun day.

Lovely little museum. A good range of things to see with a focus on the local area. Good range of time periods but not too overwhelming for children.

What a fantastic resource this place is! From child-friendly activities to serious archaeological displays, this museum has it all. Superb collection of finds from the local area - Iron Age through to Anglo-Saxon as well as information on the steel industry. We need to return as you can only take in so much.

North Lincolnshire is a nice county.
Plenty of interesting places to visit.
Not a lot more to say, as not been on holiday for 3 years. Just planningsomewhere in the sun.

Great afternoon out with children. Very educational. The lad on reception was very nice. He explained all the activities available for the children to do. They completed the Easter Bunny search around the museum. They made Easter cards with the craft lady and she was lovely!! She was very friendly and helpful. The children thoroughly enjoyed it, and are asking to go again next week to make Easter baskets.

Well laid out, Gives a great insight into our local history. Staff most knowledgeable and helpful. Really enjoyed the photo's of old Scunthorpe and the surrounding area. I was amazed at how large the steelworks where in their heyday. The little house s where full of memorable things from my early childhood.
A must for old and young alike.

The museum is located a short walk away from Scunthorpe railway station.
There are many interesting artefacts on display, including fossils and recreations of rooms from bygone times, particularly during war time.
I particularly enjoyed the information about Scunthorpe’s iron and steel industries. It was interesting to discover that the Luftwaffe spared Scunthorpe from bombing due to the number of German employees engaged in those industries.
Apparently had the Germans successfully invaded Britain they would have used Scunthorpe as their steel producing hub.
I spent an hour or so browsing the exhibits and found it most interesting.

We were hanging around killing time and decided to pop in to this museum. We weren't expecting much but hey, it's free to go in so it didn't matter if we didn't enjoy it.
We LOVED this place! Larger than you think inside and the exhibits are very well laid out and labelled.
There's everything from fossils to steelworks to skeletons to wartime.
We didn't think we wou6spend over an hour in here. The young lady at the reception was very friendly and polite.
Well worth going in, as well as looking in the garden at the carved tree trunk.
