Royal Air Force College Cranwell (the first Military Air Academy in the world) is probably the most famous landmark in Royal Air Force (RAF) history. The Cranwell Aviation Heritage Centre portrays the fascinating story of this historic establishment from its early days as a Royal Naval Air Service base to the current day. Lovely little museum run by really helpful enthusiasts. Grandkids loved it on Easter trail event. Lots of little interactive electronic gadgets to play with to keep the kids, and us, amused. Jolly good show chaps. Real shame they wont allow it on the base across...More

I visited the aviation centre with my 13 year old son. I was raised nearby so used to see and hear the Jet Provost aircraft all the time back in the day, so was looking forward to finding out a little more about them. This...More

Had seen the signs off the A17 but had never been. Museum is in a small building on a farm. Inside was small but nicely laid out with many hands on exhibits. Currently there’s a temporary exhibition about airships at Cranwell and surrounding areas. All...More

Enough here for an hours visit with special things for kids to do. Nice café, very friendly staff and a C&C site right outside the door!

We picked up a flyer in Stamford advertising an exhibition about Women in Aviation. Wow that sounds great. It was just some boards with info that you can read online.(Over hyped advertising I would suggest). The best bit was the really lovely and enthusiastic volunteer....More

This a small museum but packed with interesting exhibits. At the time of our visit there was a special exhibition on early women aviators. Lots of hands-on items too, including a landing simulator. I managed to land in a field! Free entry too!
