Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cracking little museum. You can negotiate a pushchair around, but it is tight. And when you want to go upstairs the staff make space for you to stash the pushchair away. Plenty of exhibits to look at, and the knowledge of the people who run it is second to none.
Also, immaculately clean (or at least it was until our kids smeared their finger prints everywhere).

The museum has 4 rooms downstairs and 4 rooms upstairs. Although she said well behaved dogs were welcome we took it in turns waiting in the garden as it was a lovely day. It’s only £2.50 and was interesting to walk around.

What a wonderful museum packed full of old treasures and a great history of filey and its fishing fleet past.
Great value for money for the modest 2.50 entry fee and the oush button commentary jn the rooms is excellent.
Lovely volunteers who are very Informative.

Interesting visit. Place is packed full of artefacts and information. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We didn't spend too long in here, but could have easily spend longer if it weren't for the kids :) Thanks for a great visit

I've been going to Filey for years and never visited this place so decided to pop in with my other half.
£2.50 entrance fee it consists of 3 rooms upstairs, 3 downstairs and the garden area. Loads of interesting facts and the lady in charge knew loads of little things. We were in a bit of a rush so couldn't look at everything in as much detail as I'd have liked to but would definitely go back. And I will definitely be telling my dad to visit as I know he will love it.

It certainly is worth looking in at, and taking a trip down memory lane.
Quite a compact museum, but so much to look at, and with the staff on hand , who are extremely knowledgeable it makes for an interesting visit.

This museum is crammed full of fascinating exhibits and pictures concerning all aspects of life in Filey through the ages, from geology to Butlin's! It is beautifully kept and the guide was most friendly and informative. As it's in a very old building it's not all suitable for prams and wheelchairs, but they have even provided a screen so that people who can't go upstairs can look at the exhibits there. It's well worth a visit.

What a great find. The museum was very informative/educational of past lives in Filey. The woman who was in attendance was fantastic - so knowledgable and enthusiastic about Filey. It made our experience so much more fulfilling.

Filey museum is a first rate small
visitor attraction. Set in two old fishing cottages and run by friendly local volunteers it's jam packed with objects of interest. I spent a leisurely hour there exploring all things Filey. Alongside mannequins dressed in the authentic garb of the day there were household objects as well as coastal fishing related tackle.
There's an informative section on coastal geology and biology (i.e rockpool creatures) and old photos and postcards telling the tale of local characters of the past including one of a wrestler and boxer who later became an evangelist!
A fabulous place to spend an hour or so especially on a wet or windy day.

Yes but not much space so large ones may be kept in the back yard.

The Museum is between two pubs: The Station (known locally as The Top House) and The Grapes. It is also fairly close to The Star, The Imperial, The Buccaneer and The Cobblers Arms.
