- Matthew B1 contributionCracking little museumCracking little museum. You can negotiate a pushchair around, but it is tight. And when you want to go upstairs the staff make space for you to stash the pushchair away. Plenty of exhibits to look at, and the knowledge of the people who run it is second to none. Also, immaculately clean (or at least it was until our kids smeared their finger prints everywhere).Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 4 September 2023

It's such an interesting place, you could handle a few of the artifacts. it was very interesting The volunteers were very informative, the display of fisherman's jumpers was brilliant, they even had old patterns, and examples of different styles. The children's room upstairs was very good too. Well worth a visitVisited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 September 2023
- Anna67 contributionsInteresting museumThe museum has 4 rooms downstairs and 4 rooms upstairs. Although she said well behaved dogs were welcome we took it in turns waiting in the garden as it was a lovely day. It’s only £2.50 and was interesting to walk around.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 22 October 2023

This is a superb museum. Run by volunteers since the early 1970s, you can feel the love and passion that has been poured into this place. Lovely collection of local interest objects from Butlins memorabilia to Blacksmith tools, and a wooden washing machine. Displayed so visitors can get up close. Very family friendly - the dolls house is wonderful. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and helpful. A must if you are visiting the area.

really lovely little museum where we were warmly welcomed and told about the layout and exhibits. Well worth a look if you're in the area and will return next time we are in Filey.

This is a little gem of a museum with more to see that you would expect on first arrival. The custodians are very enthusiastic and know more about Filey than you would think possible. Filey was my partners childhood holiday destination and one of the custodians even remembered the owners of the guest house where they stayed every year - and we are talking about a good few years ago now!
My favorite was the exhibition about the former nearby Butlins holiday park. It just really captured my imagination for some reason. But there is something for everybody and I think that they provide a little quiz to keep the younger ones entertained too. If you are In Filey take the time to have a visit. Opening hours are limited given its voluntary nature so just check that it is open before making a special visit.

The Museum was originally two cottages built in the 1600s. When we entered we were greeted by two ladies who asked if we would like to go in one of the rooms for further information so we did that and they told us a lot of interesting historical facts about the area and about the fishermens Guernsey jumpers which were on display. There were various other items in the room and then we enjoyed exploring the other rooms and the items outside in the garden area. There are various rocks and minerals and old photos, some from Butlins Holiday Camp where we used to stay many years ago. The fee is £2.50 and it is well worth a visit.

Yes but not much space so large ones may be kept in the back yard.

The Museum is between two pubs: The Station (known locally as The Top House) and The Grapes. It is also fairly close to The Star, The Imperial, The Buccaneer and The Cobblers Arms.
