I thoroughly enjoyed a great day out with Mike providing one to one photography tuition for an absolute beginner. Despite the very cold and windy weather we toured round some on the highlights of the Yorkshire Dales stopping at various points to allow me to photograph the wonderful landscape. At all times Mike encouraged me to 'do my own thing' and then he would point me in the right direction enabling me to learn from my mistakes. I am now much more confident in not using 'Auto' and being able to think more about the picture I am going to take and how this will evolve. We spent time at Mike's home reviewing the days photographs and showing me how to improve them on the computer. I was so pleased with the photos I had taken, much better than anything I had taken in the past and I will definitely put into practice everything Mike taught me. An excellent relaxed informal day and I would definitely recommend a day out in the Dales with Mike.

My partner and I were both completely new to droning (and to a large extent, photography too) and wanted to find out if it was for us, so we decided to try the Come fly with us course. What a fantastic way to spend an afternoon and enjoy the beautiful Yorkshire Dales at the same time. Mike is a really friendly guy who is clearly brilliant at what he does. He took the time to understand what we were looking for, and explained everything really clearly so we were confident in giving it a go. We came away hooked! Definitely recommend.

I had a great day out with Mike Barker. He was really knowledgable about the drones and the area and you could tell you were working with an experienced educator and photo professional. We were lucky to have a beautiful day with lots of fluffy clouds, and we visited four different sites and took pictures with 3 different drones. My daughters bought the day for me as a birthday present and I enjoyed the full day from when we started at 09.30 to when we stopped at 5.00pm.

I spent a full day with Mike touring great photography locations in the Dales. Mike is both a great tutor and guide to the Dales. He was a great tutor and helped to bring on my skills a lot. He has a vast wealth of experience and it was great to learn from that. We took in some fantastic locations across the Dales and I got some great shots. It was a really great day and I'd highly recommend it.

My daughter arranged this one-to-one photography class for me, during our recent holiday. Mike has just started up, after COVID19 had forced him to wind down for the spring.

Accommodating to social distancing and having to deal with rain and wind, Mike was able to think on his feet and provide excellent photographic advice, accompanied by entertaining chat and a walk to the falls.

This was not the easiest circumstance for him to get going with the photo classes again but it was a really valuable session, with a combination of affirmation, helpful tips and things to do to improve my photo-taking. I would love to return for a further session, preferably (but not necessarily) in sunshine.

I then arranged some rock climbing for the family, under Mike’s excellent - if challenging, tutelage. Thankfully the weather was better that day.

Had An excellent day with Mike seeing the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. If you are a beginner or more advanced this is a great experience. Mike went over the technical aspects of my camera and settings and also showed me tools for composition. We covered a range of subjects from waterfalls to wild life and landscapes. It was an enjoyable and interesting day.

My wife and I have just spent an amazing 3 days with Mike. We covered all sorts ..learning the technical information and then putting it into practice in some amazing locations...so we’ve come away having covered landscapes, portraits, wildlife, indoor and outdoor flash and more. Photographing red squirrels was brilliant, seeing and photographing the amazing Dales landscapes was beautiful. We even fitted in an hour or so of drone photography.

It’s the second time we have been taught by Mike and I’d highly recommend him..we have learnt so much!

I'd got some experience - a previous 3-day camera course, periodic bouts of experimentation with my SLR, muddled in with lots of point-and-shoot.

Mike spends the first hour reviewing the important aspects of taking a great photograph, including ensuring you understand how to translate this into the settings of your camera. Despite the weather and skies being unhelpful, we drove to Ribblehead and then Ingleborough limestone pavement and worked on techniques to achieve great composition as well as how to capture the best you can do on such days (of which there are many in the UK!!) Once back home, Mike showed me how to post-process and easily transform a picture if you had captured good focus and structure. The day provided for lots of great learning and was highly inspiring to get out there and attempt fabulous pictures!

The experienced transformed our entire approach to the Dales. Mike spent an hour or so on elements of photography, and it was clear he had spent a great deal of thought on the essence of good landscape photography and the basic techniques. We then spent time in the field shooting, with Mike giving each of us special time to enhance our photos. Then, back into his studio to analyze the results. My daughter said it revolutionized her experience and she discovered an enlightened look at the sport of photography. I have taken many photography classes, but this was the best ever. We ended up staying an extra day in the Yorkshire Dales to take more pictures in this exquisite area which is perfect for photography. Thank you, Mike! We don't take pictures now without making sure we have all the right compositional elements and, FOCUS!

We booked this as part of our week in the Dales. Mike was so accommodating, the course starts in his studio on the lower ground floor of the converted chapel. He allowed us use of his own cameras, the tools of his trade. The initial outline was very informative and then straight into practical side of camera use. It is amazing how with a little tuition and direction our photographs improved.
We'll be dusting down our compacts and probably invest in better equipment.
The only drawback was we had only left one full day after the course. You can really tell the difference and will be back another time after we have had chance to practice our new skills and knowledge
Do yourselves a favour and invest a little money and your time to take great photos of your time in the Dales
Thanks again
