A must stop by place, lots of things to enjoy here
I go to the station all the time. It’s a real example of a great quality community hub. The cafe is welcoming with some of the best food in Richmond, bakery has fantastic sourdough, and the ever changing gallery walls helps the building feel fresh. If that’s not enough there’s also a cinema, amazing icecream and sweet shops, all deserving their own reviews. Genuinely a gem in North Yorkshire and a must stop by. Couldn’t recommend it enough.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments! We are so pleased to hear that you enjoy your visits to The Station, and take full advantage of everything we have on offer here. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Visited previously but a bit rushed last time. Easy free parking for Blue Badge holders. Disabled wheelchair lifts to all floor levels.Enjoyed a relaxing lunch.Great pizza and cakes. Lovely coffee. All staff so friendly, helpful and thoughtful.Shops and gallery great. One of the best experiences my wife has had as a wheelchair user.Whoever initiated the installation of disabled facilities deserves much praise.

First class response to “an unfortunate event “!
I have just had the most wonderful service at The Station “. I had ordered a cappuccino and tea cake which arrived promptly. I was sitting in the dog friendly area when my dog suddenly pulled on the leash knocking over my table along with the coffee and cake which he grabbed. The coffee ended up all over an armchair as well as the floor. Help arrived at once and a little army started the clean up. Shortly afterwards a fresh cappuccino and tea cake arrived , no charge, which were excellent. My humble apologies were met with smiles and “don’t worry!” I shall certainly go back probably without the dog!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us Douglas - we were pleased to be able to help! We look forward to seeing you at The Station again soon (whether that is with, or without your dog!).

    Too noisy
After reading about this place we made the effort to visit with the view of dining there at the cafe. We did not as the noise from barking dogs was rather off putting. It sounded like Battersea Dogs Home. Also I was shocked at the dog friendly screenings advertised by the cinema. Showing a dog sat on a seat. Not very hygienic. We decided to buy some food from Angel bakery, buy a coffee from the ice-creams shop and picnic outside. The food from the bakery was delightful and would thoroughly recommend it. Some nice riverside walks to be done from there too.

    Perfect in every way
We visited here for lunch the night we arrived in Richmond for a mini break away. We had booked a table before attending and were promptly taken to our table. The meal was absolutely delicious and there was lots of it. The onion rings were beer battered and potato wedges were massive. The lady that served us was extremely polite and very helpful in regards to checking for allergens. She served us very quickly and was extremely polite. The building itself is absolutely stunning with naturally tall ceiling and wood plan spaces making it light, airy and spacious. The use of the space is brilliant and it’s so nice to know it’s been made use of rather than sitting derelict. We were so impressed we book for breakfast the next morning. We will definitely be returning here if we visit Richmond again in the future
Thank you so much for your lovely comments about your visit to The Station - we are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit! We look forward to welcoming you again when you are next in Richmond.

We stumbled across this lovely old building at the end of our river walk. The Victorian station has been beautifully renovated to show this structure off to it best effect. Inside there’s a cinema, cafe, various craft shops and a book exchange. The old waiting room is full of boards with golden pictures and text explaining the history of the site....extremely interesting.

It’s lovely to see the care and quality that has gone into restoring this community asset.

Great place for a catch up with friends. The main part of the building houses a coffee shop and cinema screens. Also has an ice cream parlour, a beer cellar, an artisan bread/ delicatessen shop, crafts and gifts, and art gallery / exhibition space. The local swimming pool is very close by too. You can have a guided tour of the building and there’s info boards at different points in the building to read about the history of the place. We parked here had a hot drink and then walked up towards the town for the day. Inside there’s a section where you can take dogs too.

It is always pleasing when a historic old building is renovated and brought into modern day use, and they have certainly done a very good job here. There is a cinema, roomy tea room, art exhibition and three or four shops.

As part of a general stroll around town, or to look at the old station building, it is worth a visit, but if you are looking to browse round a host of shops - it’s not for you.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed your wander around the building. It is correct that we don't have a 'host' of shops, but what we do have are independent, award-winning local food producers who make and sell their products on site so you can really get a taste of Yorkshire produce. Our Café | Bar also sources most of its produce locally. Our brand is Film, Food and Art, so this is very important to us. We also have The Shop at The Station, which sells unique 3D art from renowned local and national artists. We do hope to see you again soon.

This place is really quirky and it's nice that the old station building has been renovated. There are a few artisan shops and a cafe and a cinema. We bought a few wares from the brewery and bakery but the other shops are really quite expensive so being plenty of money if you want to shop. Pay and display car park is quite small so arrive early.

Really lovely place. Very unique with a few little stores, which were all really good. There’s a cinema too, which I’d like to try. My reason for 4 rather than 5 is that the dog friendly area of the restaurant is very small and we couldn’t get a table. I prefer places that are either fully dog friendly or not at all.

The Station has many facets. It contains a brewery, a bakery, a dance studio, a deli, a chocolate shop, numerous opportunities to buy artworks, a 3-screen cinema and a cafeteria.

This is cosy but lively space. On the day we went, midweek, and during term time, most of the visitors were people who don’t work or go to school - a combination of retirees, young mum’s with pre-school kids, and people on walking trips. I suspect that this changes at the weekend, and during the school holidays.

The building is extremely well cared for, many period architectural features have been preserved, and the internal space is extremely well used. In a nod to the station heritage, there is a historical animation on the screen near the entrance to show the station in it’s heyday prior to the closure of the Richmond branch line in the 1960s.

Well worth a visit whether you are a local or just visiting Richmond.

This is my first time I visited the station for over two years . What a disappointment! There was not enough to do. Having visited the art exhibition and the brewery. We had a tea and cake. It took 10 minutes to get the attention before we could get a seat. I had tea and ginger cake my partner had tea and a Rocky Road case. The tea was rather thin, why can’t they use Yorkshire Gold? My ginger cake could be described at best as adequate, as for Rocky Road more like Rock Lane, not adequate for a young child let along for aN adult . If they want to exist in a couple.of years , they need to improve customer service and offer better portions and improve the tea., as well as offer more interesting attractions, no wonder there was only three families in the cafe.

While staying locally we decided to go and see the new Bond movie.
The venue is really quirky and very well done.
The screens are not too big and feel really intimate.
Staff excellent and at £6 per adult the prices are excellent.
Cracking cup of coffee too!

Very impressed with the transformation of the train station but very unimpressed with the over priced takeaway sandwiches purchased from the cafe bar today. One was egg mayonnaise, the other - flatbread with falafel. Both were unappetising, came in boxes with messy salad and potatoes covered in sauce. If your going to offer takeaway food, some form of cutlery would be helpful, better still keep it simple.
