About
300 years of friendship and adventure, service and sacrifice; our museum presents the history of this illustrious regiment through the eyes of the soldiers who served. Housed in a former church in the centre of the market place, the museum is a light, bright, place with loads to discover for all the family and features a range of activities for our younger visitors. The collection includes equipment, artwork, silver, medals (including Victoria Crosses) uniforms and personal items donated to the regiment throughout the centuries. We are an event venue and also run education, community events and activity programmes, and have a great gift shop; perfect for picking up a present, or a treat for yourself. The museum closes at 4.30pm on Saturday 18 December 2021 and reopens at 10am on Tuesday 1 February 2022.

Visited the museum last weekend after making contact about my family research
I was invited by Steve to make an appointment to go down to the museum with my research and he would go through my family members service records with me helping to make more sence of them with his outstanding knowledge of the Regiment that in its self was brilliant he really helped to fill in the blanks and put meat on the bones of my relative's time while serving in WW2
We then took a look around the museum with Steve in tow telling us stories of the items we were looking at it was unreal and the background knowledge he had was quite astonishing.
In fact the staff were all so welcoming and friendly towards us we look forward to go back soon
I would highly recommend a visit to this museum
well worth a visit

Whoever thought out the presentation of this museum needs a medal themselves. Beautifully laid out, intimate recollections from all racks, a full history of the regiment and the medal room is just breathtaking. I also thought the names of people who have given donations to the museum on the stair treads was a great idea. An enjoyable and educational visit. Many thanks to you all
And a really lovely gift shop with beautiful items

This is the perfect short museum visit if you've an hour or so to spend in Richmond. Every object in the museum tells a story and is a window into the lives of the soldiers who've served with the Green Howards and the story of the regiment. It's really well displayed with just the right amount of information - enough to come away feeling you've really learnt something but not too much to take in at once. The Medal Room is amazing and makes the stories of the soldiers who earned these awards very real and vivid. It was actually very moving and a memorable highlight of our visit not just to this museum, but to the area.
This is exactly what a regimental museum should be: modern, sensitively presented, beautifully displayed, informative and entertaining.

On a day when the weather was atrocious we were looking for things to do inside and given my hubby’s interest in military history this seemed like a perfect choice.

It’s good value for money, the lady was really friendly and explained where everything was. We spent about an hour and a half there and he loved it

The stylish modernisation of this important museum in the centre of Richmond helps visitors to become engrossed not just in the long and illustrious history of the Green Howards but also in the human stories of its soldiers over the centuries and across the world. Browse the detailed and vibrant displays or listen to the recorded voices of some of the soldiers, as they recount their memories at the push of button. The artefacts and stories are inspirational yet also very moving. There is a great children's quiz and play area too. The staff are knowledgeable and happy to talk. If you want to research a relative who was in the Green Howards, as we did, they will check their archives for you, if contacted in advance. After the closures because of the pandemic, this wonderful museum really needs support, as so many do, so pop in and enter another world - it's definitely worth it.

Really enjoyed the visit to the museum. Some fascinating items to view and read about. Really brings home the history and sacrifice of our forces in times of conflict. The medal room is amazing. Very educational for adults and children alike. Entrance cost is very good value for money. A must visit right in the main square of Richmond.
