The Green Howards Museum charts the 300 year history of this illustrious local infantry regiment. Housed in a former church in the centre of the market place, the galleries show a range of objects from military equipment, medals and uniforms as well as using personal items donated to the regiment throughout the centuries to tell the human story of those of who have served. The museum is a light, bright, place with loads to discover for all the family and features a range of activities for our younger visitors. The museum also runs education, community events and activity programmes.

Actually a really nice and interesting museum in the heart of Richmond and really enjoyed the exhibition of military interests. Brilliantly laid out and lighting which makes everything look interesting. The information supplied is well written and charts how the army has changed over 400 years. There are several old army uniforms for photo shoots which can keep you amused... More

I do know that my dad played a small voluntary part in the upkeep of this famous museum when he retired from the Army. Other Regiments are involved as well as the Green Howards - Prince of Wales Own Regiment of Yorkshire; the Duke of Wellington's Regiment and the Yorkshire Regiment. There are Victoria Crosses and George Crosses on display... More

We were, apparently, the first visitors to the museum this year, as it only opened for the season on 1st February! It is housed in an excellent conversion of an old building and is filled with lots of interesting items relating to this fine Regiment. There is also a medal gallery with details of the numerous winners of the Victoria... More

Somehow we have avoided this museum even though it's been right on our doorstep!! So, a rainy day caused us to visit and we are glad we did. Not overpriced, lots of different rooms on 3 floors displaying the history of this famous regiment. Need a good 2 hours to take everything in. Enjoy meeting and talking with the very... More

It had been a while since I had visited The Green Howards Museum in Richmond, North Yorkshire. I was met by two lovely ladies (Anita and Sara) who informed me that the museum had benefitted from a major refurbishment through Lottery funding. This had produced three floors of well thought out display areas of their artifacts and memorabilia. Attention to... More
