What a super place - for all the family
This is an absolute gem of a museum. We are lucky to have it. Something for all the family. Took the grandchildren today ( 8 and 6) Plenty of 'bitesize' interest in every room and they loved finding the small brass rubbing plates as we went round - all at child height. Everything is thoughtfully displayed at a level where the children can easily see and there are lots of prompts and information resources to hand. We loved the activity room and spent a long time playing in the shop and dressing up. There is lots to do - very interactive. The volunteer staff are extremely kind and helpful; able to answer any questions. The little gift shop is refreshingly affordable with some simple but nice mementos related to the museum content. We stayed 2 hrs and could easily have enjoyed longer but had to move the car.
We are so pleased that you had a great visit. We are very proud of the Museum and our volunteers and glad they made your experience so enjoyable.

    Excellent
We enjoyed our visit, we had free entry with a national art pass. Some very interesting displays such as the James Herriot vet surgery, Grinton old post office and Georgian living room. Learnt about the founder of Fenwicks who came from the same area. Helpful staff.
We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit.

    Hidden Gem
I visited the Museum yesterday for the first time on my way back from the gym and what a hidden gem! full of relevant information about the history of the town. I was presently surprised on how well maintained it was and how well everything was displayed. The volunteers there are doing a great job. Much bigger then how it looks on the outside this place of wonder and history is worth a visit. I will certainly be going back when I have more time to explore!
Thank you so much for your lovely review we are so pleased that you enjoyed your visit and we look forward to welcoming you again.

What a little find this is was. It’s such a sweet little place and you can tell that the exhibitions have been lovingly put together.
It’s also a tardis as it’s far bigger than first impressions.
It’s not a high tech museum and for us that made it all the more charming.

Very interesting museum. It has the set from the original All Creatures Great and Small. Lots of other interesting things to look at and the staff could not have been more helpful

Rather like the Tardis, this is much larger than it looks from the outside. Fascinating source of local history. Take your time and have a cuppa in Edwina's Cakes just down the hill when you leave.

This little museum is just off the town centre in a beautiful courtyard and is well worth a visit if you're visiting Richmond. Surprisingly comprehensive, it charts the life and times of Richmondshire from pre Roman days onwards with a plethora of interesting artefacts and displays. Children will particularly like the many recreated rooms and shops, as well as the dressing up and interactive area. Allow about an hour for your visit.
