About
The House of Hardy Museum displays a variety of fishing tackle and associated products which were manufactured by Hardy's from the very beginning of the business in 1872 right up to the present day current products being manufactured today. The museum is not just a celebration of all things relating to Hardy's but of British manufacturing at its very best. The "Perfect" display cabinet is testament to a British design from the late 1800's which is still in production today!

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As an enthusiastic fly fisherman, albeit far from an expert, my curiosity was piqued by what this shop and museum might offer. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it is the epitome of excellence, not just in the realm of fishing, but also as a testament to uncompromising quality. The two gentlemen who run the place extended a warm welcome to both me and my son, making our visit memorable. In a brief 15-minute conversation, I found myself enriched with newfound knowledge and appreciation for the craft. When they placed one of their finest rods in my hand, it was a moment of revelation. I left with a longing to return, hopefully when I am more financially equipped to indulge in their top-tier offerings. This establishment is truly a rare gem for fishing enthusiasts.

A great way to spend some time in Alnwick. The chaps in the store were super-friendly and knowledgeable, advising me on both salmon and sea fishing in the area. Lots of new tackle to drool over and a great collection of historical artefacts. Recommended!

Lovely little shop with enthusiastic staff, full of knowledge about Hardy's history and product. Made to feel inclusive, even though I know nothing about fishing. Would recommend a visit.

Completely disappointing after a long drive - three staff downstairs quite indifferent to our visit - and we were the only couple in the shop.
Tried to get a conversation going about the origins of Hardy’s and the man admitted he just didn’t know when the firm started (1872) but said he should have done.
Useless - the original family would be horrified .

Upstairs museum via difficult steep steps just not as good as the old one visited some 20 odd years ago.
Staff just not interested- what a disappointment- will not ever return.
When you lose the family input it seems everything goes.

The old museum was a lovely friendly place, but the new museum and shop is not. You enter and it seems that they look at you and decide that you haven't got enough money for them to both with. The museum is completely inaccessible, up some very tight stairs. I hope they realise that the UK has a large number of disabled angler's.
It breaks my heart to see such an amazing company becoming so un-inclusive.

Beautiful shop inside and full of all things Hardy. Nice little museum on the top floor worth a 30 minute walk round. Very helpful staff willing to spend time with me on my new rod and reel purchase.

It would help to be open as advertised on the website. The place is closed with the redirected address also still not open. What a waste of time.....how many once loyal customers will be frustrated by the lack of communication

I arrived and the old shop found a sign in the window, saying they had moved to the town with a post code, also that the new premises were open from the middle of June.
Thorough need a coffee so ok, put the post code into the Tomtom and off we went, arrived parked walked to where it said it was. only to find out from a builder working on site that it will be may be two months possibly before it opens, and the manufacturers get has moved some where ?
The shop is supposed to be next to the card factory in the old Midlands bank.

As I have traveled from Kent to fish in the area this not helpful. This is what happens when companies are taken over, very poor show for what was a great name
