I would recommend this walk in a heartbeat especially with Patrick as your guide. We loved hearing from him the history of Lindesfarne as well as the learning about flora and fauna of the sand flats. All delivered with the eerie singing of a colony of 3000 or so seals in the background. An unforgettable experience

We walked the pilgrims' route over the wet sand and mud with Patrick. It was amazing. We saw unusual bird species and saw and heard the seals. A colony of over 1,000 were singing and it's a terrific sound. Patrick makes it special. He knows everything but fees the info at just the right pace and tone.

What a Fantastic Day I had walking barefoot across the sands following the Pilgrims Way across to Holy Island. Accompanied by beautiful sound of the Grey seals singing near by. The weather and the tide were both in our favour so I also got to sample the delicious Cuthberts Cake flapjack and fresh roasted coffee at Pilgrims Cafe. The extra bonus was the walk through the wild flower meadow. Patrick’s Noris who runs ‘Footsteps’ is a font of knowledge on the flora, fauna and history. This is my first guided walk which I can highly recommend. It’s very affordable, even though I was the only one booked on the walk Patrick honours is commitment to running the walk once you have booked.

Hi, many thanks for your kind and generous review, The combination of walking barefoot across the sea and then exploring some of the best wildflower meadows in Northumberland is a rare combination. My apologies for the long delayed response to your review, but I have been busy throughout July and August. I look forward to walking with you again on your next visit. Cheers, Patrick

Our day walking across the sands to Holy Island was the best of our holiday. Patrick is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. The day is a mix of history, nature, exercise and photo opportunities. It was such fun to walk barefoot on the sand and in the warm rivulets of seawater, especially as the cars on the causeway were sitting in a large queue! The tour of the island itself was also interesting. Patrick knows how to tailor the day to the people participating and I would definitely recommend this event to anyone visiting the area.

Patrick guided us smoothly along the Pilgrims Way to Holy Island and despite the wind and rain showers, we wouldn’t have missed it for the world! Most of the group of 5 walked barefoot and we experienced the same route, light and landscape that others have experienced for hundreds of years. Patrick’s knowledge of the area was excellent and he told us more about the history and locality in one morning than we had learnt in our week’s holiday.
Coffee and cake at the Pilgrims cafe was superb and we found the priory and other landmarks on Lindisfarne very interesting. We caught the bus back but had the option to walk if we’d wished.
It was a trip of a lifetime and we will never forget it

Our group consisted of family; the eldest being 70 the youngest being 9. We all throughly enjoyed our return walk to Lindisfarne. We enjoyed Patrick's knowledge on the history and wildlife of the area.
I can't recommend this walk enough.

Patrick guided 5 of us along the 3 mile Pilgrim Way across to the Island, Lindisfarne. We were so lucky to have had a beautiful day, sunny day for the walk . We had many highlights. We all loved walking in barefeet across the wet sand knowing that we were safely guided and there was no risk of getting caught by the high tide . The walk gave a sense of being immersed in the extraordinary landscape, with big sky and shimmering sand and sea.Patrick was a brilliant guide . He has a gently facilitative and inclusive style. Backed up by broad and deep knowledge of history , natural history , and all things nautical. Other highlights were hearing the eery calling of the seals and seeing a wonderful variety of sea birds and waders . We also enjoyed having a coffee break at the pilgrim café on the island . Delicious coffee and home-made cake. Thank you Patrick for a memorable trip.

Hi, many thanks for your wonderful review, it is very much appreciated. My apologies for the long delay in replying, but I have been very busy, mostly leading walks across the Pilgrim's Way. It's always a great experience and to walk across when the sky is reflected in the sea, makes it that bit extra special. Cheers, Patrick

This was a great guided walk to a part of Northumberland I haven't visited before. To see the sites of iron age communities was fascinating. The walk involves a fair bit of ascent but all done to suit your pace and in stunning scenery. We ended up doing 10miles! It was great! I'd definitely recommend this walk if you enjoy exploring areas without the crowds.

Had the most amazing day with Patrick walking across the causeway - the Pilgrims’ way - to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne and back again. Stunning scenery and great company. Patrick talked about the history of the area, while pointing out birds and seals with his binoculars. Stopped for coffee and cake on the island and was given a tour including sampling locally made gin and mead! Definitely recommend. And incredibly good value.
