Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A wonderful experience walking the Pilgrims Path to Holy Island with friends. Ray was extremely knowledgeable, full of fascinating facts, and very happy to tailor our trip to suit the participants. Would love to return in the summer to walk it barefoot, but wellies were required in the icy weather this time!

I’m pleased you enjoyed the barefoot experience - in my opinion it’s the only way to cross the sands.

Had a great walk accross to Lindisfarne and back with Ray and our group with just enough time to eat a very good cake from the cafe looking out to the castle on the island. Ray is friendly, professional and very knowledgeable, he even gave us a lift back to the bus stop on the main road. Highly recommended and as an outdoor professional myself he gave me something to aspire to. Top notch.

It was a busy day on the island but we had the peace and tranquility of the pilgrims’ path to savour. Thank you for your kind words.

St Cuthbert's cave circular walk was beautiful and interesting. It was a relaxed walk with interesting facts and fables explained by Ray who has a real love of the area.

Our family of five enjoyed a great walk across the sand (and back) with Ray to visit Holy Island. We all really enjoyed hearing about the local history and felt very safe navigating the tides and windy weather with him. Seeing and hearing the local seal colony was an unexpected bonus!

Our guided walk with Ray across the sands to Holy Island was definitely the highlight of our holiday, walking the Northumberland Coast Path.
Firstly it was reassuring to have an experienced guide, knowledgeable about the tide times, and best route to follow. As we walked he was able to give us a thorough account of the history of Northumberland, its relevance to Holy Island and answer our many questions!
Although he is more of a historian than a naturalist, he shared lots of information about the ecology of the area that really enhanced our visit to this beautiful place.

Thank you Zoe. The Northumberland coastal path reveals the extraordinary beauty of the northeast beaches and it’s great to hear the walk to Holy Island was a positive part of that experience.

We really enjoyed Ray's highly informative talk and walk across to Lindisfarne. Walking barefoot through the samphire and listening to the seal songs was an added bonus. The walk is well paced and brilliantly narrated opening up the early history of Northumberland. We recommend this to anyone and in fact have passed on the details to others already.

Thanks Phil. I had a large group to guide that day and everyone seemed to get on well. Your dog Luna made friends with Bruno, the other canine pilgrim, as we crossed the sand. Thank you for the review.
