We only went to do some pre Christmas shopping at Morrisons but having done that we spent the best part of three hours walking the old town walls. I hadn't expected too much but was very pleasantly surprised. It was very interesting and thoroughly enjoyable and the, people we met on the walk, mainly dog walkers- we had our dog,... More

This is well worth doing - even in part - as it tells you a lot about the history of the town and is very picturesque and interesting. These walls are the best of their kind in England and unique in all respects. The view is amazing and there are helpful noticeboards all along the route. In addition to telling... More

I really like the walks that go near the car park and the beach. The walks lead to near the castle and railway bridge.

There are a number of walks that incorporate these walls, and it is possible to walk right around the walled part of the town. The surfaces and paths are in excellent condition and the signage and historical information is good. Some parts of the walks are on the walls and other parts are on high embankments, where good views of... More

There are very few towns and cities in the UK with walls as impressive as these. The stonework is in excellent condition and the embankments are enormous - you get a real sense of how they were used to defend the city, where the guns might have been placed and the roll of the giant bastions every few hundred yards.... A pleasant walk around the Elizabethan walls that still surround the town that lies just before the border with Scotland. There are views of the town, the Tweed estuary and the coastline. The walk takes about an hour to complete.

Thers nothing llike this anywhere else in the UK that I'm aware of, wandering around Berwick from the top of the walls is a great way to explore the town
