We enjoyed our visit to Paxton House from start to finish. Following a warm welcome, we were taken on a fascinating tour of the house. In many similar houses you are often left to wander around the place at will, but we found that it really helped to be taken with an expert guide. Our guide, Jim, was great --... More

Jim H was a very informative and entertaining guide. Prior to his wonderful tour, we spent some considerable time in the gorgeous gift shop , where the tour tickets are purchased. I treated myself to pieces of jewellery , and there were many other super items I would have loved to take home also! We then enjoyed the spectacular riverside... More

Well done Paxton House! Open in March when other large properties in the area are still closed to visitors. Friends and I enjoyed an excellent guided tour of the property seeing many beautiful pieces of Chippendale furniture including a clothes horse!! The house was well heated on a cold March day. Will make an effort to return later in the... More

One of the Paxton House series of lectures (on 18th-20th century paintings in their collection) was the mainspring for a fabulous afternoon of revelation about the Scottish Landscape painters, followed by a sumptuous High Tea in the gallery. For a modest sum (£15) and with a gentle piano accompaniment, you were transported back amidst this 19thC splendour, eye drifting in... More

Lovely day spend here! Visited the house which is beautifully furnished, gorgeous picture gallery, 68 pieces of Chippendale furniture and you see a lot of the house. Lunch in the tea rooms was very good then walked the dog by the River Tweed. Can't wait for summer when the boat hire begins!

Great venue for a day out and a coffee, the gallery for me is the best part of the house although some of the rooms are very impressive. Kids can go mad on the zip wire then have a fantastic walk up the river to Chain Bridge. You can then finish off withe afternoon tea or a late lunch, this... More

I've been to Paxton House many a time, as it's the perfect venue if you have feral kids that need to burn off excess energy on the wonderful outdoor play park before being able to sit down for any length of time without chewing on the table. You can drag them off to the tea rooms in the converted stables... More

As always a lovely place for a walk alongside the banks of the beautiful Tweed river. Sadly the tea rooms weren't open the week we were there but on previous visits they have offered lovely cakes and light meals.

We went for a walk and hope to see red squirrels from the red squirrel hide. Alas we say 2 grey ones so wont be any red, despite claims they have red. From there we saw many birds very close using the peanut feeders-lovely. The walk to the tweed river well worth doing-goldcrests and tree creepers easily seen as path so... More
