My daughter and I were at Haggerston Castle, mon- fri, staying at a caravan
What an amazing team and show. The birds were incredible. I went with my 6 year old daughter who had the best experience holding and flying birds of prey. From little to large birds she was in her element and the owner, Angela, was so good with her, encouraging her throughout and telling us all the facts about each species. What an informative and fun day and we will be going again in October 2023!! Highly recommended ! Plus there is a reptile and insect area and a show for this too which was also amazing ! Booking are separate but so worth it and two of the best things to do at Haggerston Castle.

If you get the chance book it!
We were lucky enough to be at the first experience of the season & it really is amazing, the staff are friendly and very knowledgable, we came away with a lot of interesting facts about birds of prey. Its very hands on we got to stroke and hold a lot of owls & even fly them too! We would highly recommend that if your at haggerston castle you visit here!

Great day out with excellent staff
We visited the reptile encounter one day and the birds of prey show the following day. We can honestly say it was the highlight of our holiday. The reptiles were brought out two at a time, the handlers clearly knew their stuff and were great at explaining to the kids exactly how to touch/hold the reptiles safely. They answered all of our daft questions as-well as explaining some really interesting facts about all of the animals. The next day it was birds of prey. Each bird was brought out one at a time and we were all offered a chance to hold the glove while the handlers told us all about each bird. It was clear to see how much they love all of the animals and they really got you involved as much as possible. We all learned a lot and the kids (and adults) had an amazing time. The staff here really make this!! They’re great with the kids!!

But of prey near Berwick upon Tweed
Excellent presentation. Friendly staff, informative, a shame it was windy but they did explain about the birds being blown about. Understandable. But the display inside was great. Flying and photo opps touching of the owls also was invited. Outside plenty of other birds to see and beautiful gardens to walk around. Insect area was minimal but very nice still

    Amazing family time
We went to the birds of prey at haggerston Castle on Tuesday the 4/7/23. The wee man had a great time learning and touching the birds. Would Highley recommend doing this as its great fun for the family and you learn some new stuff about birds. Highly educational!

    A great place to visit
Fantastic experience and great value for money! We visited on 11th July 2023 and paid at the venue! We saw all the birds in their aviaries and the tarantula’s etc in their glass houses! The flying show was awesome with the owls and a Harris hawk! My wife handled some of the birds as did a lot of the people present! Audience participation was encouraged and there was no objection to photos being taken! The surrounding gardens are immaculately kept, the aviaries are spotless and the birds all look in excellent condition! Lastly the staff were all knowledgable and approachable! A great place for all age groups to visit! My wife and myself will definitely return!

    Go go go!
Visited today with my wife and 5 year old son. Would 1,000,000% recommend!! So accommodating and even got a stroke of an Eagle Owl despite it being Reptile Day rather than Bird of Prey Day! Well worth the money and the staff were so knowledgeable and welcoming!

    Hoot of a time!
A fantastic and surprisingly cheap activity that adds an extra special factor to your holiday. We got to handle a variety of birds, up close and heard about how the birds were trained and raised. Definitely needs to be visited and experienced!

10/10 Must have visit when visiting Haggerston Castle
Absolutely amazing hands on experience with the Barn & Tawny owls, Kestrel and Sparrow Hawk. The staff were brilliant too, very patient with younger children who were a little more wary but wanted to participate in the handling. This was our second visit and as a family have agreed it’s one of our most memorable at Haggerston Castle. Thank you!

A great morning out, worth every penny.😁🦉
We had read good reviews online, so booked in by email. On the day, there were 2 baby owls, they were very cute and fluffy. After everyone who wanted a stroke had their chance, another young owl was brought out and flown. Everyone who wanted to get up close and put on 'the glove ' was encouraged to. Mary was content to flump onto the glove and be stroked. Flo, a 'teenager' was being temperamental and not doing as she was told, so was 'grounded' next came a little kestral who was better behaved most of the time, followed by Indy the Harris Hawk. Indy was a fabulous bird, who enjoys 'buzzing past' the crowd. We really loved the hands on experience with the birds and their individuality shone through making the experience all the better even with the slight mishaps and minor bird uncooperativeness, which , in a way made the experience more enjoyable.🦉😁 Would recommend to anyone in the area on a holiday or there for another reason. Also nice as it is in a beautiful 😍 garden with statues, flowers and vegetables so once the session is done, it is lovely to look around and also to see the other birds that are also there that weren't in the display. In summary a wonderful place, friendly people and beautiful birds and an incredible interactive experience.

My 12 year old son and I visited on 1st August 2023 and we had the best time! Everyone had the opportunity to get up close to the birds and it was lovely to see how well the birds are cared for! The staff are extremely knowledgeable and were happy to answer any questions.
Without a doubt, this was the best part of my holiday to Haggerston Castle! Even if you're not staying at the caravan park, I'd thoroughly recommend visiting... It's a gem of a place! A huge thanks and well done to everyone who works there!

This was our second visit this year and both times have been amazing. We loved the chance to get up close and personal with the birds, something that you will usually pay a lot more to do. The birds and enclosures are really well looked after and the knowledge of all the keepers is fantastic, it is great to talk to passionate people who really care for the birds. I highly recommend a visit if you are staying or passing Haggerston Castle. We will definitely be back (to see Squish grow up).

What an amazing little place to visit.

The birds of prey and their keepers are an absolute asset to Haggerston Castle.

Our visit here had to be the highlight of our stay. The birds are well kept
and well loved., they are trained daily and are allowed to fly freely alongside the trainers.

We were able to have a gentle stroke of the owls, Norman, the baby owl has been hand reared from a egg because his mam had died, again, he was well loved and really well cared for. Mary, also a owl was a veteran at 15 year old.
I was not aware that owls only lived for 2 years, so Mary is doing really well, down to the love and care she receives. I missed The next owl because my granddaughter had a call of nature, which became a great memory for us both as there was a kestral sat perched on a branch in the rest room. Absolutely AMAZING.

The Harris hawk was an absolute joy to see fly and to feed. He was a bit cheeky swooping over our heads and between our shoulders. FANTASTIC.

The averies the birds are kept in are really clean and are in a lovely garden area surrounded by fruit trees (our granddaughter picked and tested them all ) there are loads of wild flowers for the bugs and butterflies.

Like I said this is a fabulous place to visit, well worth the money. Make sure to book in early to visit, you will not be disappointed.
