Amazing riding holiday for university groups!!
Thank you to Spring Hill for such a lovely riding holiday!! We returned for 3 days of riding this Easter, having had a fantastic time last year. As we are a larger group (the equestrian society from the University of Nottingham), the bunkhouse was a perfect accommodation option, with self catering facilities in a large open kitchen. The rooms were especially clean and tidy- we were very impressed by the renovations of the bathrooms since we visited last year. Thank you to Sue for ensuring the smooth running of the holiday and for answering all of our questions when booking the trip. The riding itself was fantastic! Liz and Dawn were amazing ride leaders and took us on some beautiful routes. We enjoyed having a lot of canters and gallops, and it was lovely to see how much the horses enjoyed it. They were very good at adapting for different abilities. Every one of us felt very safe on all the horses. Also a big thank you to Eloise and Carol who accompanied on our rides and were really friendly and helpful. To top it all off, we were extremely lucky with the weather, which made the views even more spectacular. We really highly recommend Spring Hill to anyone, whether you want a solo riding trip, for families and of course larger groups (such as university groups such as ourselves)! Thanks again for such a lovely time , we are looking forward to next year! :)

    Amazing few days
I have just spent an amazing few days at Springhill riding stables and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I travelled alone but couldn’t have felt more comfortable or safer. The staff ( Liz and Elouise) made sure I had a safe horse in the beautiful Ben and showed me how to tack up and groom him. They really brought me on with my riding and I loved cantering across the fields. The accommodation is immaculate I stayed in the bunkhouse which is warm and cosy and spotlessly clean. I made friends while I was there and I would say it’s a fantastic place to go to escape the work of you love horses and want some me time. Thankyou so much girls and I will definitely be returning in the summer x

    Wonderful!
We've been twice now. We're not horsey people and my wife used to be scared of horses, but I just wanted to do something different. Now we love this and plan to go every year. We stay in what they call a "cottage" which includes a kitchen and they always stock it with food, which is so nice of them! The horses are all saddled up ready for you at the time of your ride: All you have to do is turn up and ride them and then hand them back afterwards! I grew fond of my horse, Megan, if I remember rightly. The rides are always through incredible scenery and it's SO relaxing to be so far from a road! Special hello to Dawn our instructor from Harrow who now lives in Wales. She voluntarily took loads of photos and videos of us, so kind. Looking forward to going back either later this year or next year. I hope Megan's available when we do!

    Fabulous morning out riding
We had a fantastic ride out with Dawn. I’m experienced rider and my partner less so however Dawn made sure that we both had a lot of fun! She really encouraged my partner with some great advice which resulted in him galloping for the first time. We would highly recommend whatever your level and we shall certainly be back.

    It’s not 5 stars it’s 100 stars!
Just returned home after a It’s not 5 stars it’s 100 stars! Just returned home after a 4 night stay in one of the cottages on site with a fabulous friend. We are both massive horse lovers and this was the perfect mini break to catch up, be surrounded by beautiful horses and to see some stunning scenery. On arrival we did an assessment to match us with a suitable horse! This was an unexpected 1.5 hour hack with the lovely Liz which was a fabulous start to our holiday as we got to know the horses and the set up. The following 3 days we did all day hacks. Lots of different routes, stunning views, lots of trotting, cantering & galloping and I was in my element! Dawn took us out on all our hacks and she was an absolute star! She made us feel so welcome, knew every horse inside out, helped us with our riding giving us tips along the way to make our experience the best it could be. We also got involved in the grooming, tacking up & washing the horses after a long day in the saddle. These things are optional but we jumped and the chance to be as involved as possible and were thanked for every we did. In the background Sue runs everything like clockwork! All round great teamwork and a great bunch of people working there. You’ll not want to leave and when you do you’ll be booking straight back in!!! Can’t wait to return soon and we’d love to catch up with Dawn again as we had such a fun time! Three fantastic days at Springhill Riding Stables.
My 17 year old daughter, a complete novice rider and myself returning after a 30 year break from riding, had a fantastic time at Springhill Farm. We were kindly picked up at Gobowen station by Sue who owns the farm and driven to Springhill, where on arrival we were taken to our two bed studio accommodation. This was a clean, comfortable secure self catering space on the farm which my daughter and I found very suitable for our 3 day stay. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel very much at home and immediately relaxed. There is no WiFi which for us was a bonus as it meant we could truly unwind . You can pick up a signal if you walk up the road about 1/4 Mile . The walk is a good way of stretching out stiff muscles after a days riding. The combination of beautiful surroundings, patient and encouraging leaders like Dawn, who was our leader for the three days we were there. Dawn is not only fantastic at her job but great company and my daughter and I enjoyed our time out on our hacks with her very much. She was knowledgeable about the surrounding countryside, and her years of experience with all the horses meant ours were selected to fit exactly our individual abilities and confidence levels. We felt safe and confident from the minute we first mounted up. We were assessed the first day to check our capabilities and hacks there on were selected both for capability and enjoyment. All were breathtaking the scenery is just so wonderful and the terrain varies, so no two hacks are ever the same. I should add that the riding school is family run and a real labour of love and hard work. The staff are all lovely and the high level care given to all the horses is immediately evident. The horses are so calm and accommodating to each rider. It was a pleasure to ride Teddy, Jannie and Donald. We also had a lesson in the school to help make progress with my daughters trotting technique. Chris gave us the lesson and as a very experienced teacher had my daughter trotting quite confidently within an hour. During our three days my daughter and I rode solely together with Dawn, so we have both benefited greatly and feel that we have made great strides in our riding capabilities. We got home yesterday after three fantastic days of learning, fun, gorgeous horses and fresh air, huge skies, and got to know some of the fantastic stable team, we are already planning next years visit!! 🙂 I would really recommend a 3 day stay at Springhill Riding Stables !!

    A great 4 day ride
My 4 day ride was everything I hoped for - great riding, great horses and great scenery with fantastic people. A special mention to Meg and Lletty who carried me around with great enthusiasm and gave it their all on the canters/gallops. Many thanks to Dawn, Sue and Liz for sharing their passion for the horses and their countryside.

We had a brilliant time on a three day trail riding holiday. The horses were superb - they listened well to the leg and reins. We had some great gallops and enjoyed stunning views. Springhill really put the welfare of their animals first which was great to see and the horses clearly enjoy their jobs! Our guides, Liz and Dawn, were fantastic. They checked on our safety at every step and made sure we had a wonderful experience. Our helpers, Elouise and Lily, were also super and really knowledgeable.

Thank you Springhill for a truly fantastic experience. We will be back soon!

My daughter had her first riding lesson here at 6 years old. We’ve been back several times over the years for pony holidays and hacks and returned last week for another 2 hour hack on her 18th birthday. What an incredible two hours. Despite the dreary weather we encountered on Wednesday you are still afforded fabulous views whilst riding beautiful horses with very pleasant company. On a clear day it’s like being in New Zealand! You really can’t beat this place. Thank you very much for making my daughter 18th birthday very special. We both enjoyed it tremendously.

I booked a half a day ride and a stay over for over.
We had a lady called Ellie for the ride and she was very good at her job. As it was our first time riding Ellie was very good at explaining.
Was a beautiful area and very nicely set up.
The accommodation was warm and very clean.
I would recommend this activity to friends & family.

I am back from my first real riding holiday, and my expectations were absolutely exceeded! The location of the farm is spectacular, to say the least. Rolling hills with colours that change with sun or clouds: you are all in with nature and your horse.
We rode most days with Dawn, an incredibly kind lady, who will take best care of you and your needs.
When I arrived I was barely able to canter for a minute, and I left not only being able to canter, but also to gallop! I sit better in my saddle and I finally learned to completely relax my legs! It has been an incredible journey! Thank you Fred for all your help too! :-)
At the farm, Steve, his wife and Lyz, are also very kind.
I am now looking at possibilities for going back in a week from now, if there is availability, and otherwise I will be back in springtime.
Oh, last but not least, my horse, Donny! We fell both in love and had a great contact. He was patient when I was learning to canter. He is a super sweet but strong horse!
Thank you for everything!
Cristina (NL).

Throughly enjoyable 2 hour ride out. Nice open country and very little on quiet country lanes. Nice steady irish cobs, riders well matched to horses, Sue who took us out quickly assessed our abilities. Two of us a tad rusty having not ridden for a number of years and older end :) our nervousness soon dissipated and we enjoyed our canters( that we thought we wouldnt)

Fantastic location coupled with amazing owners & staff make Springhill Farm the perfect place for a riding holiday. Although the real secret is the fantastic way they treat the horses, absolutely outstanding. Beautiful to see these magnificent and well cared for animals free to roam around the fields after a day’s riding.
Could not ask for a better experience.
