Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The park and ride was appalling I suggest the roads you close should be for the buses only that way they can run better although more buses would help

While I believe Bridgwater should have a big carnival museum to celebrate this amazing annual event, it's nice to pop into the carnival centre (on the High Street) to have a look around.

You can see photos and costumes from past events, going quite a way back, and the staff are always friendly.

This is a great museum to see the History of Bridgwater Carnival through the years. I even found photos of my father on several carnival carts which was fantastic. Well worth a visit

I grew up near to Bridgwater and we always used to go to the carnival. The last time I went was probably nearly 40 years ago as I now live in the Midlands. I have always told my hubby about it so as it fell on my birthday this year, we went down for it.
It was every bit as good as I remembered if not even better. Hats off to Bridgwater. To be honest, I always thought of Bridgwater as, not the nicest of towns, but they have really pulled their socks up and it's a lovely characterful town now.
My hubby was blown away by the carnival and thought it was as good if not better that Disney Florida. It was so very impressive.
Can you believe that I had not seen the Squibbing before this year. It's amazing!!
The atmosphere was great and although there was loads and loads of litter on the floor at the end of the night, it was all cleaned up by the following morning.
Nice one Bridgwater. I am so proud to say I grew up near there x

PS. The Tudor Restaurant and Hotel is the best - ever!

My family of five made the journey all the way to Bridgewater to see the carnival that everyone bangs on about! We arrived extra early in the day so we where waiting for the carnival to start from about 16:30, unfortunately there was a lot of intoxicated people stumbling around and in a quite big crowed this can become quite dangerous with small children. The carnival was suppose to start at 18:00 ( at this time we have been waiting quite a while ) but for some unknown reason this was delayed, as the time went on more and more people where crowding and pushing and shoving into my four month old baby and the pram. I made the decision at about 18:55 to leave as it just wasn’t baby/pram/small children friendly. So unfortunately we didn’t see any of the carnival as it still hadn’t started so i can’t rate the carnival itself only the environment. Wouldn’t recommend as a family thing, more of adults to have a drink.

I found this by chance and was impressive by the lay out and contents. There are photos of those taking part in the famous carnival going back to the 1890's and huge colour photos of more recent carnivals. There are stickers and brochures available and staff on hand to help with any enquiries.

This carnival is really like no other. The work that goes into the floats is phenomenal, they parade takes a long time to pass by and there is so much to see. We booked seats in the grandstand so the waiting is not so tiring and if there is a delay for any reason its nice to have a seat, plus they are covered so you get some protection from the weather. Very impressed with the carnival parade. On the day of the carnival they have lots of different activities going on in the town which are quite nice to see and after the parade there is squibbing which i am sure is fantastic to see but the carnival didnt finish until 11pm and my son was too tired to stay to watch that.
My only criticism is they need to sort the traffic out. We used the park and ride thinking we were doing the right thing but it took over an hour and half to get to our B&B which was only a 15 minute drive away. It was complete chaos at the end which is a shame. I will definitely go back again but i think i will look to book a hotel in the town centre so i dont have to fight my way in and out of town again.
