Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There is some really lovely countryside near the canal - particularly Maunsel Lock. Would definitely recommend the drive but it’s worth noting nearer to Taunton than Bridgwater

The canal is a lovely quiet place to enjoy on foot or by bike, with several access points. One of the most interesting is at the centre, where the heart of the "Solar System Walk" can be found, with models of the sun and planets within easy walking. Look out for old pill-pxes from WW2

Great if you need a mobility scooter cause canal tow path is fairly smooth. So nice to get into the country side if you have mobility issues.

Nice family cycle ride from Bridgwater to Maunsel lock. A ride of about 7miles each way.
East flat ride with good paths. Some lovely countryside and some interesting more industrial camels nearer to Bridgwater.
Would recommend for family bike ride

A great walk through the countryside following this historical route. Make sure you walk along the canal in Bridgwater so you can get the proper urban and rural experience of the canal.

I spent a couple of hours kayaking on the canal.
Luckily, there was a section that was free of locks.
Very peaceful.
I was lucky to see the resident otter (albeit only briefly).
Will definitely go again.

A lovely canal to have in the middle of Bridgwater linking to Taunton and other nearby villages. Excellent for walking, running, cycling, boating, fishing or just to stop by at the cafe for tea and cake watching passers by. Equally friendly for dog walkers too. The canal itself is dirty though so just be mindful if you're kayaking etc. However, there are good spots to stop for a rest and bite to eat with your sailing vessel. I've walked and cycled to Taunton and back. It's an easy flat level with some lovely views on a good, clear day. Do expect muddy, slippery terrain during wet, winter months. Generally the walking area of the canal is reasonably looked after. A good place to just get away from it all.
