Poor Service

Now the center has become Cashless even worse; you have to fit their system. The staff are not interested in extra revenue even when you are wiling to pay the high charges for very average facilities.

Pool
Feb 2020 • Family
Phoned 5 times to see if the pool was free but there was no answer despite the centre being open. Decided to go anyway so arrived with my 5 year old to go swimming at 5:30pm. They were very kind and let us in FOC to use the softplay explaining the pool was busy until 6:30, but when the lessons were finished we could use the smaller of the 2 pools.

We went to the softplay which frankly was dated and very small, my daughter was bored within a few moments. However she was determined to swim so we waited for an hour until the pool was free. At 6:30pm we got changed and went to the pool only for a member of staff to tell us the pool was closing and we couldn’t swim.

My daughter started crying and was very upset, particularly as she had patiently waited for an hour doing nothing. If I had been told at 5:30pm I could have gone somewhere else but by 6:30 it was too late for a young lady of her age.

I cannot understand how anyone can be so disorganised and incompetent. What a joke. If I were looking for a leisure centre search elsewhere, this lot haven’t a clue.

Could be better.

I’ve used this gym since before it moved to its new location. The staff number seems to have decreased, there is hardly ever a member of staff in the gym between 7am and 9am. When the new gym opened it was great...now the equipment is showing signs of were and tear. It is extremely busy in the mornings and you sometimes need to wait to use equipment, this usually happens when someone has set up a mini circuit for there own use therefor tying up several pieces of equipment at one time (not very considerate) or they take a break and chat while sitting on equipment (even more inconsiderate). This probably wouldn’t happen if a member of staff was in the gym. Also the classes are mostly run for young, fit people while I am in my late fifties with arthritis and so have some mobility issues. I can’t keep up with the classes I’ve tried and they run to a soundtrack, the instructors do not have the time or ability to make adjustments for individuals.
Would it be possible to have a gym only membership, I don’t use the other services.

Pleasantly surprised

I went to Frome Leisure Centre today, for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised. The receptionist was helpful and well mannered, the facility seemed very clean. I used the changing room and swimming pool. The centre seems well attended, and well staffed.

Fitness Gym
Mar 2019 • Solo
Just not good. Its not a fitness Gym but a Leisure center where there are no rules; told this when i raised my concern that you could get to use apparatus as those in just sat watching films on the mobile phone. Apparently they were resting!
This was a mid afternoon Sat when least busy so what would it be like when busy.
In summation just cant use the Gym with a real training session.

Unhygienic
Nov 2018 • Couples
Why are outdoor shoes STILL allowed in the wet changing room?
I regularly walk past parents wearing outdoor shoes waiting near the children’s pool, next to the showers whilst their children are having a swimming lesson.

Whatever they have trodden through is spread over the wet floor in the changing rooms and swimmers then walk through with bare feet and transfer bacteria and detritus into the swimming pool.

I have mentioned this many, many times. Shoe covers ARE provided and are sited immediately outside the changing room, but I have yet to see anyone wear them, nor have I seen any staff member ask a member of the public to remove their shoes in the changing room.

This practice is unhygienic, unacceptable and allowed to continue despite the issue being raised with several members of staff, including management.

Its getting there
Mar 2018
I am not from Frome but have been a family member with fusion and have been now for over a year. Since joining I have seen improvements and its still ongoing it just needs community support. For my family membership children can have free swimming lessons saving a family a lot of money, Helen who teaches my daughter works well with them. They did have trouble with the boiler but I think that has been fixed. I have done spinning and Pilate classes with Alice who is fantastic. Staff are always polite and helpful I have discovered the Fusion App and this is great to use. There are a few things that could improve like a few more classes and coffee shop opening hours but in time these things will happen.

Cold and old
Feb 2018 • Couples
If you don't mind dirt or you're going once in a blue moon it's great. For regular lane swimming... Horrendous. Honestly if i could go somewhere else I would. The floors are dirty and gritty, with HUGE dirty water puddles over clogged drains. The showers either scald or freeze you, the water varies in temperature (you can feel it when you swim through cold spots then warm etc) Don't get me started on the toilets. You can SMELL urine from the other end of the changing rooms! Ah yes, the changing rooms, cold, litter everywhere and all the baby changing mats and chairs pulled down and left. What more could you want? Don't bother making a complaint though! No response will be given.

Dirty and cold
Aug 2017
Dirty changing and pool cold and sparse! Whole experience takes you back to the 70's! Excuse given is that it's a treaining pool, so what about all the other users!? I think it is more about saving money! Why run privately? Where did the refit money go?

baby swimming pool horribly cold!!
Jul 2017 • Family
I haven't been to frome swimming pool in a very long time. But today I took my baby here for his very first swimming experience. I was looking forward to seeing how good the leisure centre is - now that all the money (like millions of pounds!!) has been spent on it. The reception area looks odd and really not inviting at all. What is the point in the train station style entrance / exit gates?? Not very easy getting out through those things while carrying a baby and bags. Anyway I wiped down the baby changing table before changing him to get him ready for the pool. The wipes brought up quite a bit of dirt - so I was really glad I took the time to wipe it myself before putting him on it. Got to the pool area (which I'm sorry but it's really shabby and dark! Obviously none of the money spent went on the pool. Somehow it's got worse than before!) There used to be a big jolly wall mural at the pool years ago (the best thing about it!) but that's gone for some reason - and it is so dreary in there now. There was a sign up at the baby pool saying "pool closed". I said to the lifeguard "is the pool closed?" And he said "it closes at 3:30". I pointed at the sign and so he moved it and said "oh it's open". So we got in - and oh my gosh it was so cold! Far too cold for a baby! Another mum swam up to me and said "this pool is far too cold isn't it. The baby pool is much warmer where we come from". I agreed that is was too cold. My baby was shivering within minutes! I kept him moving and kept him close to me to keep him warm. We got out after a short time. Spent a ridiculous amount of money as well! Me and my son will be going to a much better - and most likely cheaper - pool for our next swim elsewhere.
