When you go to the trig point you realise that you can see over 30 miles from the top of Dunkery Beacon: it is 519m high! Fabulous

Well worth the gentle climb and if you're short on time or breath you can park within 1/2 mike of the top. Autumn day when we went but the 360 degree views were still spectacular. With full sunlight it must be sublime.

You need a good weather day which we had with clear sunny skies and a warm temperature. The walk although a little stony is pleasant but the views from the top of the beacon are fabulous with the Somerset Plateau spread out beneath the Beacon. Follow all this up with a good pub lunch you will for sure have developed... More

On a good day you can see for miles, on a bad day you can't see your own feet. Choose your day and this place will not disappoint

this is a lovely walk for those wishing to experience the beauty of Exmoor, it is a bit of a climb but not as bad as I expected and well worth it.

Stunning views from windswept peak . Few spots could be so attractive We chose to walk nearly 2 hours to get there and it was worth the journey ,with an attractive walk back down.

Although a moderately difficult climb for the unsteady the views make the effort worthwhile. The changing seasons and weather make every visit a new experience.

The summit is marked with a very large cairn which I climbed to fully admire the impressive views. There were some Exmoor ponies up the top but strangely an extraordinary number of flies emanating from the rocks of the cairn.

Somerset's highest point. Incredible view point. Views all over Exmoor and beyond including Wales and Dartmoor. It is open land and vulnerable to all weathers. It is extremely exposed and therefore is an area to be respected. If you are not dressed appropriately you can get into trouble very quickly. Go there in all weathers. Its beauty and challenge varies... More
