The Roaches Ridge and Eerie Lud’s Church, Leek

1 review
As a Peak District walker, even before I moved to the beautiful and charasmatic market town of Leek, the Roaches was a favourite haunt of mine, both for the awesome rock formation and the eerieness of the Lud's Church.
It is a great walk for escapism with views over miles of countryside. On a good day you can see as far the mountains of Wales.
Many visitors come to Leek purely to walk over the Roaches and I would love to show you a fabulous route, share my knowledge of some of the history and of course entice you with a few folk tails.
Unfortunately often walkers see these delightful rocks and find their own path, ending up scrambling dangerously up the ridge. They miss the environmental friendly pathway through the rocks, the stretches of scenic moorlands, the Doxy Pool and of course the mystique woodland way to the Lud's Church.
Plus of course, no visit is complete without a visit to the Roaches Tea Room. Their oatcakes; a local tradition, are just delicious.
I warmly invite you

20 years of riding motorcycles on the road and even more on mountain bikes. Stu and his team are brilliant. It's structured but you aren't mummy cuddled. Learnt a lot of new skills to improve my road riding. Food and facilities are spot on. Will be going back, this could become an expensive hobby...

Stu is an excellent instructor as are the other instructors. Top notch facility with more space than anyone would ever need. Everything about the setup is first class. The bikes are excellent and well maintained. The "ranch" is brilliant with excellent home-cooked food. I came away from the training day with some brand new skills to take away as well as a new thirst for going back as soon as possible! Snowflake people may not enjoy this, you will get wet, muddy, tired, and you will hear some good old fashioned swearing.....My kind of place :) See you again soon
