    Fantastic gin making experience
We had a great day finding out about the history of gin making and the process behind it. Dave was very knowledgable about all the botanicals that are and can be used in its making. Making your own gin was even better - sorry Dave 😉 you get to choose what ingredients you want to add to the base alcohol to create your own gin, Dave and Andrea were at hand to help if you needed some guidance.Would definitely recommend to anyone who knows a gin lover for a gift.
Thank you for your lovely review! (I have made sure to pass on to Dave haha) Glad to hear you enjoyed your day and super pleased you'd recommend us, this means a lot! Hope to have you back soon.

A great day out for Gin lovers
What a fabulous day from start to finish, Dave and Andrea where looking after us for the day and were both great. We had a lovely crowd of people, the day was informative and engaging and so great to make a unique gin and distill it to take home. We were so well looked after and the process was fun, Dave was so engaging with everyone we were served a lovely cold platter of food with some delicious gins threaded through the day and a few tasters at the end. Totally recommend….tip of the day, leave your car at home!!!! It’s only 20 mins from Stafford or Rugeley train station and some of our group were staying locally so that’s also an option.
Thank you for taking the time out to review our Gin & Vodka School experience, we greatly appreciate it! Glad to hear you enjoyed your day and hopefully learnt some new facts about gin. But yes we always recommend organising a lift to and from the distillery so you can fully enjoy the experience. Hope to see you back here again soon.

Sally’s gin school experience from last Christmas
We arrived at 10am for the gin school and were met by David our teacher and guide for the day.We had a look around the still in the factory and then went into the school area. We learnt about the history of gin and what went into making it. We then got to choose our botanicals with help from David. We then set up the still and set it going. We had a lovely buffet at lunch and also did a quiz that was very enjoyable and informative. We then got to bottle 70cl of what we had created to take home. We also got to taste 3 different types of Nelson’s gins. It was a great day and would highly recommend it and David our host as well. Thanks also to Andrea for keeping us all fed and watered.
Thank you for taking time to write such a lovely review Peter! We are glad you enjoyed your day and hopefully picked up a few new facts you can impress your friends with. I have passed your kind words on to David and Andrea, I know they will be pleased to hear. Hope to seen you back soon.

    Great experience
Went on Good Friday as a gift. Had a fantastic day learning about Gin, making our own and sampling Nelson’s Gin. Dave, our teacher was informative, entertaining and made the experience fly by. A really hospitable and welcoming environment. I would recommend very highly.
Thank you for your kind words! I shall make sure to pass on to Dave, Andrea and the team. Enjoy your gin and we hope to see you back again soon.

    Excellent experience
I had this gifted for Christmas by my husband, I took my daughter and we had an excellent time, we laughed, we learnt, we drank and we ate, we also made gin ( to take home). Dave was so knowledgeable, but he also made it very interesting, with humour to go with it. The other staff ( ladies, sorry forgot your names) were also very accommodating and lovely. I would highly recommend this experience, could not fault anything.
Thank you for your lovely review! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your day at Nelson's Gin & Vodka School. I shall pass your kind words on to David... I know he will love to hear them. Hope to see you back soon! Kind regards, The Nelson's team

    Immersive, creative, fun
My boyfriend had bought me a ticket to this experience for my birthday last year and today 20/05/23 we were finally able to go. The whole thing was incredible, from the warm welcome we received, to the wonderful hospitality. We were very well looked after and the whole day was more than I could have imagined. It was immersive, entertaining and most importantly.... Fun. We learnt a lot, and were able to taste some lovely gins and the knowledge we were given helped us make a delicious gin of our own to take home with us. We were given a really tasty lunch and left with full stomachs and happy hearts. Thank you to the two wonderful staff members who made it really special, and a day I won't forget in a hurry.
Thank you for your kind review! It really does mean a lot. We are so glad you enjoyed your day and not only distilled your own gin but learnt something from the whole experience. It's our aim to educate and entertain. Enjoy your creation and we hope to see you back again soon!

    Amazing experience!
Brought this as a birthday present for my mum and it was such an amazing day! David and Andrea were so welcoming and knowledgeable and definitely made the day! It was an extremely interesting experience, learning of the history, how it is distilled, learning about the different flavourings and finally getting to make our own! I’ve always enjoyed gin, but this has given me a new appreciation for it! I can’t wait to go back and do it all over again!
Thank you for your kind review! We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your experience and most importantly your mum enjoyed her gift. We would love to have you back again!

Brilliant experience for any gin lover
My friend and I like to try different things and we both love gin - I’m fairly local to the venue so it seemed like a no brainer. I can not recommend it enough! Few tips I’d like me you feel the cold wear warm clothes and maybe take a cushion for the stools. But that’s the only negative I can fine! The host David was amazing very animated and engaging. Andrea was amazingly helpful and attentive. I’m already trying to convince others to come with me and sui and I will be back to do rum making in 2024.
Thanks for sharing your experience at Nelson’s Gin, Vodka & Rum School! We're so glad to hear you and your friend had a great time with us, and we appreciate your kind words about David and Andrea. Your feedback about the temperature and seating is really valuable – we’ll be sure to consider how we can make things even more comfortable for our guests in the future. Excited to hear you're planning to come back for the rum making in 2024! We look forward to seeing you again. Cheers, The Nelson's Team

Had a great time learning about the history of gin. I bought the experience as a birthday gift for a friend and wasn’t disappointed by the day. From learning about the origin of gin, choosing preferred botanicals, having tasters of Nelson’s gins and bottling our own, the day flies by and suddenly you’ve waxed your own gin cork and are calling a taxi to take you home!

Given as a gift, my wife and I had a fantastic day. We have enjoyed the gin we made too and since ordered another bottle as they keep your recipe. As a tip, research the botanicals in gin you like to drink, you are more likely to end up with a flavour you enjoy.

Thank you for your great review and advice for future students! We agree it's good to have an idea of what types of flavours you like; there's so much choice. Normally, your nose is a good judge of character—if you like how it smells, you'll probably like how it tastes! That being said we are always happy to make alterations to your Tailor-Made order just let us know when making the purchase. We hope to see you back here again soon, what's your thoughts on Rum? We arrived at the appointed time and were met with a warm welcome and drinks (non-alcoholic). We then went into the learning area, with an array of information posters, books, a bar and a mini still per couple.
Each couple were invited to talk to one of the hosts about the very large array of herbs and spices.

The main presenter for the day, introduced as to lots of aspect on distillation and we visited the main still and area.

After a coffee /tea, the “fun “ started and the preparation of each couples “herbs and spices” began.
Great to see and hear about all the combinations you can have in a gin.

Having chosen our ingredients, which we noted for future use, an excellent and “plentiful lunch was served, with “tasters” and our own distillation was stared.

Had lovely time talking about lots of different gins/rums etc and history of the production.

On completion of our distilled product was, bottled and refined by the “Master Distiller” to ensure legal requirements then sealed with certification.

It was a great day and everyone said how much they had enjoyed the whole process.
Went back to our hotel, by taxi, with our own gin plus a few other items from the bar/shop.

Highly recommended outing for adults.

I went to the gin school with my partner for our 3rd anniversary as we both love gin and I had been before several years ago so I had high expectations. Since my last visit the course has been revamped and revised to offer much more in terms of information and trivia around the birth and growth of gin. I was even more blown away by this experience than I had been on my last visit. We both came away with a fabulous amount of fun information, lots of fabulous memories and two bottles of gin which we had created ourselves (I did say we both love gin so we didn’t share a still). I will happily visit again (and again… and again)

It was an absolute honour to have you attend our Distilling School again, and it's really great to hear that we exceeded your expectations! We're always looking at ways to improve and enhance the experience. David continually develops his knowledge so he can provide the most interesting and informative experience possible (how he retains all the information, I don't know). I hope we did your anniversary celebrations justice, and of course, I hope you liked your craft creations. What are your thoughts on trying Rum or Vodka next time? We really do hope to see you back soon. All the best, The team at Nelson's

Having experienced the gin making and seeing the passion that Nelsons have for their product, I now regularly buy my Gin from them and would recommend them to all that are lovers of gin. The new relationship with endorsements by well known chefs only confirms my belief this is a unique and great contributor to the UK market.

Thank you for your incredibly kind review! We really do love what we do here, from the experiences we deliver to the products we produce; passion, pride and quality are at the heart. Absolutely first rate experience. Would highly recommend. Everything was beautifully set out and explained extremely well. Lunch was a lovely buffet with gluten free catered for. Wonderful experience of making your own batch gin. The pace was perfect and it made a super day - 10.00 a.m. - 3.00 p.m with refreshments (tea, coffee, juice, biscuits) all on hand whenever you wanted them. A really BIG thank you to David and Andrea for a super day out.
