Despite the weather being slightly lifeless on the day, the racing managed to bring excitement to the people I attended with, alongside myself.

I had the opportunity to meet some executives, owners and presenters at the event and was shown great respect, appreciation and care by all. I couldn't recommend a race day enough.

Quite a few days spent with family and friends at Uttoxeter Racecourse is such a fun Raceday out. We have dined in the 1907 Restaurant, bubbles and delicious course meals, from Ash and the chefs, with great customer service from Claire and Neil Liz and the team. We have been lucky to meet the whole team at somepoint in our many Racedays. Brian Tom Jonathan Paul the management team can be seen all over the racecourse working hard to keep us fed watered and safe, enabling us to have a fantastic experience. Fish and chips with Smithy is a must. Lunch at hoops with Debbie, relaxing and good quality. I have sampled coffee and cake with the Welsh team. Lots of champagne, prosecco, wine and beer from the various bars aplenty. Some cheeky bets on the horses, so exiting to watch your horse come home. Crowds are full of people having fun and the atmosphere is electric.

Fantastic day at the races on Saturday. From arrival to leaving we had a great time. There were 3 couples, all in their 40’s, looking forward to a little flutter during the day and the live music at night. We thought that everything was organised brilliantly. There were obviously thousands of people there yet the queues for the bars or toilets were never too long. Even later in the evening, the toilets were clean and easily accessible. The entertainment was great too. All in all we had a fantastic time and will definitely be booking again. Thanks to the team at Uttoxeter.

Four of us visited Hoops restaurant and champagne bar for the Midlands Grand National. It was the person who booked the tables 70th birthday and for a reserved table for the day and a three course meal about £150 a head ( he paid )
We arrived about 12.30 and were met by a welcoming lady who showed us to our table. She explained that there were no toilet facilities in the restaurant and we would have to use the general public ones outside. A waiter was quickly there to offer us all a complimentary glass of Prosecco. About 20 minutes later and nobody had been to take our drinks order or our food order so the lady who we first met stepped in . Drinks eventually arrived although there was a delay in me getting my cider for some reason. Starters arrived and we all agreed they were very good. Mains came and again very good but you wouldn’t put weight on ! Pudds came and again excellent.
There were definitely not enough waiting staff and it was difficult to get their attention for more drinks . I managed to hold off going to the loo until after the last race because of the massive queues.
As you walked into the gents you were met by a urine soaked floor, cans and glasses in the sinks and toilets that were disgusting.

This day out was booked for 11 people to celebrate our 50th birthdays. We live 10 miles away so we chose to drive and park the cars at the racecourse. We booked a taxi to pick us up at the end of the day. On Sunday morning when we went to pick up our cars, we were unable to gain access to one car as the carpark was locked. The only number on the gate was for PPS security who told me they have nothing to do with the car parks, only the site security. I went to another carpark which was manned, the guard was lovely but said he could not leave his post to open the other gate (5 minutes away). I rang the number on the security hut and spoke to a man who told me the gate couldn’t be opened until the Monday morning at 6am.
There was no signage to inform us that this would be the case when we parked. Luckily I wasn’t working until 11am on Monday, my husband was going to take me at 6am to collect my car, but I was worried no one would come and I would be left there on my own as he had to travel to work. The same man answered the phone this morning, when I called at 8:30, and told me off for not arriving at 6am as he had arranged someone to be there! The day before he had told me not to arrive before 6am and someone would arrive in 10-15 minute to open the gate whenever I called. No time was agreed! When I arrived today I called him and he came to open the gate. He clearly lives nearby and I’m certain could have opened the gate for me the day before.
The whole parking experience was shambolic and no one was interested in helping me to gain access to my car which was parked in a racecourse car park!
The races were fun but sort out your parking signage please uttoxeter, this is not good enough!

Had tickets for the circle and you can help yourself to tables and chairs, which made the afternoon splendid, especially we had a rare appearance from the sun!
What did spoil it for us, and the reason for the low stars, was the bar.
The 40 min queue to be served
The clueless staff member behind the bar
The £14.50 for a small can of cider and a Guinness - at least dick Turpin wore a mask when he robbed you!
The bar running out half way through the afternoon, despite queueing 45 mins to be served.
And a big shout out to the grumpy bad mood guy who guards the gate back out of the circle!

Attended the racecourse for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee race day (2 June) booking two tickets in the 1907 Restaurant.

The restaurant is a fine venue sitting at the top of the main racing stand, complete with its own bar and balcony viewing area over the racecourse finishing line. It was disappointing to see that minimal time and effort had been made in decorating the room to celebrate Her Majesty’s Jubilee.

The main reason for the ‘poor’ review was that for £120 per person (plus booking fee) the service in the restaurant and accompanying bar was awful. Our food portion sizes were also small.

Complimentary Prosecco was not served chilled. I ordered a pint of ale and a gin and tonic…the young and very inexperienced waitress said that she didn’t think the bar served gin but we could go and have a look if we wanted!?! After looking at the bar a gin and tonic was ordered by my fiancée at the bar. My pint of ale was served and was well short of a pint so I took it to the bar to be topped up.

The waitress took both our main course and dessert orders twice after losing the originals.

A pint of Estrella Dam had to be returned as the keg had gone - it looked and tasted awful.

We ordered two glasses of port at the bar as we couldn’t get any waiting staff to take the order. When the ports arrived they were served in brandy glasses with ice in them!

The website had promoted the restaurant as having an experienced team but this couldn’t have been further from the truth.

For £120 each I would suggest that we didn’t get what we had paid for.

Have been a number of times over the years, attending the centre area, premium area, restaurants and boxes. Before Covid, races are overpacked if weather is good/weekend fixtures . It is full of drunks, getting worse as the day goes on and considerably worse if there is a live music event in the evening. Some people behaviour is Appallingly and no security staff in sight and there seems to be no acting policy to stop selling alcohol to individuals who have clearly had too much. Food in the boxes, the 1907 restaurant and the stalls have never been anything to shout about and always seems a disappointment when you look what is being charged for it. Toilets are grim. There are only two female toilets to cover all the boxes and the restaurant. They quickly run out of toilet roll and water for the taps and there is nothing stopping the general attendances using them too so they get dirty very quickly and stay that way for the rest of the fixture. Have asked staff to refill paper and get taps working, but have found most times it is ignored as they are too busy. It is such a shame but this racecourse has truly lost its class

First half - As fairly regular visitors to uttoxeter we’ve had tickets for every area from general admission to having hospitality boxes but for New Year’s Eve our favourite venue is the 1907 restaurant. Once again I couldn’t fault it ! The food was excellent and the staff considerately asking when you would like your hot food bought out knowing that you may be placing bets or watching the racing and didn’t want your food going cold. The restaurant was busy but never felt over crowded and the same could be said of the balcony. In fact the whole organisation of the day was second to none.

Second Half - I’m not entirely sure you could class this as a complaint and how the racecourse could address it I have know idea. Racecourses through the pandemic have had a very tough time and need as many people through the turnstiles as possible but there seemed to be a definite change in the people attending this year. The stands seemed at times to resemble 40 or 50 stag & hen dos at a night club and at some stages it seemed to be more like a football match, I’m not entirely sure why groups of men would be singing football chants on the premier stand whilst the racing was taking place. Two ladies just along the balcony from us end up with their best dresses drench in beer when one of the groups of men must’ve had a winner and threw their drinks in the air. Unfortunately for the said group one of the ladies had a husband the size of a shire horse who ‘persuaded’ the gentlemen that they should be buying the ladies some champagne by way of an apology.

So will I be going again ? Definitely ! A summers day at uttoxeter with a glass of pims is about as English a scene as you could picture and I will be going next New Year’s Eve but after that .........................

The food was absolutely appalling. It was meagre portions and was definitely not worth the £40+ cost for this Christmas party. I do not consider this to be good value for money. There were next to no vegetables whatsoever. This was their answer to accommodating a food intolerance. Very disappointing
