It was a very peaceful and tranquil place, From the moment we got out of the car, to the walk by the lake, and onto the ruins, just peaceful.

Lovely place for a short walk. I walked along the river and spotted some swallows swooping down above the river. I took my camera and spent an hour photographing the ruins. There was a family having a picnic whilst I was there. There were cows...More

We had a lovely stay at the retreat centre in the grounds of the abbey. Beautiful surroundings and countryside with the river and abbey and fields around with wildlife. We saw rabbits fox and jays geese and ducks to name a few.

This must be one of the most hidden joys in the south of England. No matter what the weather you are often enjoying it on your own and it seems to create its own moody atmosphere and you can't help be moved by. The site...More
