About
Frensham Ponds and Common are situated between Farnham and Hindhead on either side of the A287. The area is made up of a large area of heathland, together with some coniferous and mixed woodland. It includes two large ponds, known as Frensham Great Pond and Frensham Little Pond, which were built in the Middle Ages to provide fish (especially carp) for the Bishop of Winchester's estate. Facilities at Frensham Ponds and Common There are car parks at both ponds (The car park at Frensham Little Pond is managed by the National Trust). Refreshments and toilets (including wheelchair accessible facilities) are also available at both Ponds. Sailing on the Great Pond is only for members or the guests of Frensham Pond Sailing Club. Angling on both ponds is for members of Farnham Angling Society. Visiting Frensham Common and Ponds by car (GU10 2QB) Frensham Ponds are very popular in the summer. The car park is usually full by noon so please arrive early to avoid disappointment. You will not be able to park on the lanes that access Frensham Ponds as these roads are designated as Rural Clearways. Surrey Police will be issuing penalty notices to vehicles parked on the clearway. Clear access is needed along Bacon Lane for emergency vehicles, but, in recent years, parked cars have meant that ambulances, police and fire engines have found it very difficult to attend incidents easily, as the road has become entirely blocked. Frensham Great Pond car park Address of main car park: Bacon Lane, Churt, Surrey GU10 2QB Please note the car park closes at 9pm Parking is free during the week. However, parking charges apply on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays from 10am-4.30Pm (from Easter Good Friday to end September). All vehicles - £4 Blue Badge holders - no charge National Trust members (please show your card or current NT vehicle sticker) - no charge

Extremely disappointed after seeing on here how lovely it looked we went today. Round trip of 100 miles. I am disabled and have limited mobility any walking is with a walking frame. On arriving with disabled badge up we were told No got to park here not allowed on parking area by the kiosk. We were directed to specs on,y view from car of bushes! Couldn’t even see the ponds. My husband explained that I had difficulties and I was registered disabled could we park in the spaces with lovely views of the ponds. He was very bolshy said NO no parking down there. Although there were at least 20-30 cars in that area. No explanation was made. Very disappointed we had a packed lunch ready to sit out with binoculars and camera etc. turned round went home. Will not be going again

A really lovely pond with great walks and views. We called in here today and parked up near The Frensham Pond Hotel to enjoy the sunshine and watch all the different birds with their young in the water. Four of us just loved the atmosphere which is clean and tranquil. This is a really lovely place to visit and enjoy so please make an effort to visit.

Lovely setting, great walk, perfect ramble with friends. What was a huge disappointment was the attitude of staff at the café. It was a hot day and we had two dogs and a baby with us. The outside tap didn't work and they refused us water. Absolutely unacceptable to tell us to find a ranger in that situation. Shame it tainted a lovely trip.

We visited here in the evening and there were very few people. There is enough parking space and cafe with few picnic tables. My daughter loved playing in the beach. on the other side of pond is the Sailing club. There is also a walking path along the pond.

Beautiful place, close to home and it gives you that beach vibe 👌🏽kids love it every time. Packing is not free anymore, but still worth the trip.

Visited Frensham Great Pond today with my daughter and two grandsons. Being a school day it wasn't too busy and there was plenty of parking when we arrived at 10.30am. There is very little shade if you want to be near the waters edge so take a parasol to give you shade especially if you have little ones. There is an entrance to the pond where everyone tends to congregate as you can watch your children and enter the pond easily, on a busy day I can imagine this area would be packed as as far as we could see this is the only safe area to enter the pond. Great for little ones as the ground is level and the water stays shallow for a long way out. The sand is some type of builders sand so be prepared for your skin to turn orange but it washes off when you get home. Ducks roam the sand which is quite a strange sight but they are friendly and just want a little bit on your picnic if offered. We had a super few hours at the pond and will return. There is a small cafe to get drinks and snacks which were very tasty and good value but we will be more prepared next time and take a picnic. There are good toilets on site to. Parking is through Ringo. Really enjoyed our time at the pond, a smashing place to spend some time.

Lovely clean lake. Nice walk around it. A third in sand so more difficult walking. Some of it you have to walk on a quiet road then join the route again. We have a dog which have to be kept on a short lead and aren’t allowed on the beach. Met the ‘Grumpy old man’ people talk about in the cafe. He was ok with us though. Had a nice cheeseburger and Latte. Toilets were ok. Sign says No tap water given. There is an outside tap for dogs. Car park is £6 all day or £4 for four hours.

We visited on a beautiful sunny day and walked around the whole of the lake. Easy walk around the lake. Lots of different walks or cycle trails to take. There is a sandy beach area. The car park you have to pay or if you are a National trust member it’s free. Plenty of parking. There is a small cafe there.

No paddle boards, kayaks or watercraft allowed! Pointless.. perfect spot to practice. Health and safety gone mad again.

I visited Frensham great pond last week, walked up to the cafe and said, I'll have to use my parking change because I forgot my wallet, the owner/operator said, NO PARKING CHANGE NO TICKETS HERE.

i looked up from counting out coins from my change box, and said, can I use this to buy a sandwich? Bought item with stacks of coins and he said, DO I HAVE TO CHECK THIS?

Maybe this might get through to him, I felt threatened and very unwelcome.
