Wear your wellies as it gets extremely muddy after a bit of rain. The restaurant is there to warm you up with a cuppa of a meal.Good hides to catch some good photographs. . Best time is after March when the largest motorbike meet in North East takes place every Wednesday and Sunday from 18:00hrs in the carpark .

Hi and thanks for your review. We're sorry you felt there wasn't much to do - you mention that the hides are good for photographs and I wonder if you'd enjoy some of our guided walks (walking with wildfowl / walk with a warden) that take place on various weekend days throughout the month - one to keep an eye... This spot is excellent for any visitors wether interested in birds or not. Welcomed at entrance by enthusiastic staff who, after taking your entrance payment, happily explained the site and what had recently been seen and where. Immediately sat down with a nice cup of coffee in the cafe and checked map to see which way to set off. Lots... More

Thanks so much for the review! There's lots to see and if you don't mind braving the elements it's well worth the walk around to see the array of birds both in the collection and wild on the reserve. It's great to hear that you found staff enthusiastic and helpful - I'll pass this feedback on to them, as with... More

Hello there, we're sorry to hear you found some parts of your visit here disappointing. We have been doing some work in one of our exhibits, which is where the muddy footpath will be - this is something that will be rectified this week. It has been difficult to get properly cleaned without the risk of freezing over. We're sorry... More

Best money we've ever spent getting a yearly pass here. We see something different every time we visit, which is regular. Great hide for photographing the birds. Cafe has a good selection of hot and cold snacks and meals. Highly recommended.

A beautiful location for a relaxed day walking around and taking in the numerous wildfowl species and of course the family of otters. The staff are always helpful and the site is developing well. An excellent day out

Great day out with the kids, watching the animals get fed, and feeding some birds. We loved the otters and enjoyed learning more about the flamingoes. The food in the cafe was great and there were plenty of choices. My daughter enjoyed feeding the birds in the designated areas. I was nice to see these areas have been greatly improved... More

A wonderful all year round attraction that changes with the seasons and the weather. Most recent visits (visited twice) was for a Christmas blowing off of the cobwebs over the Christmas period.

We've been meaning to go here for a while. It was well worth the visit. Not a cheap day but all proceeds support the wildlife conservation work. The children really enjoyed feeding the birds especially the geese which took the feed direct from your hand. Sadly the flamingoes stayed indoors due to the cold weather. Highlights included seeing a kingfisher... More
