Enjoy the vast and beautiful grounds of Wakehurst. Situated in West Sussex and set in 465 acres of country estate, Wakehurst is glorious year-round with ornamental gardens, temperate woodlands, a nature reserve and an Elizabethan mansion. Besides the vast grounds, there is also a well-stocked gift shop, a cafe, a restaurant and a bakery.

As we have recently become NT members my partner and I decided to visit with our young son. Firstly the place is stunning, every turn you make there is something beautiful to look at. Admittedly we weren't expecting there to be so much land, lots of different paths and trails to explore. The weather was slightly against us as it... More

Decided to see what there was at Wakehurst, as NT members we like to visit different sites and thought that the weather would be good enough to go for a walk... and if not the Seed Bank looked promising. Yes, we agree with others that the car parking charge was a bit annoying, but I assume it helps the conservation... More

We were extremely unhappy to find, after a long drive to this NT property, that despite being members of the NT we were expected to pay up to £10 for parking!!! The poor lady at the front desk confirmed this and said it was part of a lease agreement or something? She must face so many unhappy NT members asking... More

Made two visits in quick succession after a long gap, promoted by membership of Friends to avoid risible parking charge introduction. The granddaughters were intrigued by the Millennium Seed Bank as the scientists were working and it made the work there literally come alive for them. The day tho cold and miszly was heartened by not inexpensive food at the... More

The good news is that National Trust members get entry included in their annual subscription, the bad news is that they have to pay £10 parking unlike people who pay for entry (£12.50) who qualify for free parking.

As National trust members we went to Wakehurst for a stroll around the mansion grounds, lakes and woodlands and then for a cup of tea in the Seed cafe. We went to pay for our car parking and were charged £10 for 2.5 hours, when we queried the price we were asked if we would like to pay £25 to... More

We go to Wakehurst a lot, with my 4 year old, and also my parents. There is something for everyone here - definitely plenty of things for an energetic child to burn off energy, running around with friends. We often stop at the end for a coffee on the way out - not the cheapest, but definitely very welcome. The... More

Wakehurst Place is an incredibly well kept attraction although the entrance price is prohibitive if you are not a member of the national trust. Great place for the kids to run around.

I have a brother working in biology. The seed bank was incredibly interesting and I literally loads about the different plants there despite the lack of comparative subject knowledge to my brother. The gardens are beautiful and a great place for a date or a family walk. I believe they offer automobiles for the elderly when visiting the seed bank... More
