Enjoy the vast and beautiful grounds of Wakehurst. Situated in West Sussex and set in 465 acres of country estate, Wakehurst is glorious year-round with ornamental gardens, temperate woodlands, a nature reserve and an Elizabethan mansion. Besides the vast grounds, there is also a well-stocked gift shop, a cafe, a restaurant and a bakery.

I love this place!! It's a wonderful chance to let the kids run off some energy for a few hours while totally reconnecting to nature. We have been several times, because no matter the weather (it was drizzling last time we went!) the physical activities available to the children (and us big kids too) make it fun! Full of wide... We hadn't been to Wakehurst for a while because of the car parking issue and we are NT members but we went to see the tallest lighted tree in the UK. It is a beautiful giant redwood and is very impressive. We love the water at Wakehurst with the lake and the streams and little pools. The hills are sometimes... More

Neither the Stable Restaurant or Seeds Cafe would inspire a very positive response. The young teams in both were clearly lacking guidance - long queues and half empty shelves at the height of lunchtime on Saturday. In the former, the choice of soup wasn't displayed and the queue at least 10 deep. In the later, lukewarm soup which had very... More

I was in the area for work so decided to team it up with a visit to Wakehurst. I get a couple of free NT vouchers a year through my bank, which were accepted here. I specifically chose this place as the Manor House was open. With my vouchers, I also get free parking. However, I think the car park... More

Popped to Wakehurst Place for a couple of hours with wife and two small kids - previously been put off by the car park debacle but put that aside to visit, we are NT members. A grey day started in the front cafe with a bite and cuppa, all very nice. Walked to the right hand section, the new wood-walk... More

Food fine, but expensive and there seems to be a problem cleaning tables ready for the next customer. Service adequate, but mostly inexperienced youngsters, although polite and helpful.

We had a lovely walk around the grounds and the beautiful house. I hope to see more of the house some day. The gardens are amazing - we walked for an hour and only saw a fraction of them. My son made friends with a little Robin which was wonderful!

Visited first week of January, beautiful sunny day and a good day for walking. Although not much colour the gardens looked well kept and just waiting for the spring. We had a lovely long walk and were looking forward to a restful seat in the sun outside the mansion before going in for lunch. THE SEATS HAVE GONE please put... More

I've been coming here , mainly with my mother since the 1970s. Now my mother is 93 and she gets free entry as she is a NT member as do I as a carer ( she is in a wheel chair) We have always loved this garden and almost feel that it's ours we know it so well. Unfortunately the... More
