Spirit of Tasmania is one of Australia’s most iconic travel experiences, operating sailings across Bass Strait between Melbourne and Devonport on Tasmania’s north coast. Spirit of Tasmania provides travellers with flexibility and convenience when planning a holiday. Our twin ships depart from both ports at 7.30pm and arrive the following morning at 6.00am. During peak season, we also operate day sailings departing from each port at 9.00am and arriving the same day at 6.00pm. On board, you can experience spectacular views, delicious food, great entertainment, relaxation and so much more! Experience the allure of sea travel. It’s fun, relaxing and stress-free. Simply drive on board for a holiday where half the fun is getting there. Embrace the ocean views, stroll the decks and breathe in the sea breeze - there’s nothing quite like it!

Have always flag when in the past but this time I needed to take more than check in so took my car over. More expensive but if you have the time worth it. I suggest that you loose a couple of hours in the cinema...More

Travelled from Melbourne overnight in a cabin, and came back from Devenport with a recliner seat during the day. To get the negatives out of the way, the route to the terminal in Melbourne is very poorly signed and the roads around the terminal gridlocked...More

Booked at short notice, I was easily able to get a shared cabin and get my car on board for a reasonable price. Initially apprehensive loading my car, the crew were instructive and made the process a breeze. No dents, no fuss. Was easily able...More

The convenience of having ones own car and being able to pack almost as much as you like if only marred by the chaotic conditions that surround each sailing when coming into the streets surrounding the boarding area in Port Melbourne. Always relieved too finally...More

Loved the boat/accomodation, had a room with a window. Food is expensive, the pizza wasn't worth buying. Take your own food one.

The Thai wife and I crossed from Devonport to Melbourne in the daytime recently. We had to get a car across to the mainland and booked a twin porthole cabin in case the wife got motion sickness and needed to medicate and sleep. As it...More

If you feel like being abused try asking the bar staff a question. We couldn’t find anywhere to watch the cricket so asked for assistance. There was not enough seating around the TVs showing the cricket. Too many TVs showing advertising.

Apart from the cost of breakfast, the trip was comfortable and crew wonderful. Recommend to travel with Spirit for a comfortable ride.

Not sure about any benefits in getting on early for your recliners but can't hurt. It is not necessarily first on first off, it depends on which deck goes first and where are placed in your line. I don't think you can get... More

You need to wait in a queue in order to board your car, but once your car has boarded and parked in designated area, you are from to wander the boat and your cabin.

Hi, Devonport is where you will dock, we stayed at the Gateway which was lovely and walking distance to restaurants. Don't dine there as the food is not up to standard.
