A interesting place to stop off on the way to Cape Wickham to observe the local bird life on King Island. There are binoculars supplied to further enhance the viewing.

Only 1km off the road, this little hide was a standout for the kids. Spent a while searching for birds shown on the board with great enthusiasm. They were also keen to log their finds in the book and write in the visitors book, laughing...More

When there is plenty of water on the dam here, the water fowl are prolific. Yet another of King Islands attractions. Well worth seeing. It costs you nothing to view from the hide.

Shag Lagoon was originally built and funded by Denis & Peta Klumpp, residents of King Island. Thanks to them we have this wonderful little hide where water birds can be viewed in total serenenity and privacy. Thank you Denis & Peta.

Our visit to the bird hide gave us a view of swans, swans and more swans. There were no other birds in sight on this occasion. A little disappointing.

This is an excellent birding site with a large range of waterbirds and, during our visit, the exciting find of two Red-kneed Dotterel, which are vagrant to King Island and Tasmania .
