We booked a day tour via Tours Tasmania which the itinerary includes the Lake Dobson. We walked around the trekking track around the lake which provided us stunning views from different angles. The lake is shallow and the water is crystal clear which allowed plenty...More

Hiked to Than Shelf but very resent snow and wind means little to see fagus wise, although the views are still super special. Lake Dobson was full of colour

Absolutely gorgeous area, we even had snow. So pretty, a little cold, but lovely in the sun and we were lucky with no wind. A walk to the lake is a must...so clear. We had amazing blye skies as well.

Only a small proportion of visitors to the park bother to drive up to Lake Dobson, possibly because it is an unsealed and winding mountain road. There is a good sized carpark at Lake Dobson and there is a short walk along the edge of...More

So much to explore in this wilderness area. The walk around Lake Dobson and into the surrounding areas is spectacular. Some section of the paths are timber decked but mostly just the natural ground.

Lake Dobson is accessed by a 17km gravel road but the road is in good condition. The walk around the Lake called Pandanni Grove is lovely along the edge of the Lake. Coming out on a service road, return back along the same walk rather...More

We walked around Lake Dobson in amongst beautiful bushes and snow left over from the recent snowfall. It was so beautiful. An easy walk with so much to take in. We made a snowman at the huts just down from Lake Dobson.

An interesting drive climbs up to this alpine meadow before reaching the end of the road and Lake Dobson. From here there are various walks, but we did Pandani Grove and the circuit of the lake which on the warm, sunny day we had, was...More

A visit to Mt Field National Park wouldn't be complete without visiting Lake Dobson. Easily the most accessible sub-alpine lake if you have your own car and don't mind around 16km of dirt road. The intriguing 'pandani' surrounding the lake are reminiscent of plants from...More

Drive up 16km to Lake Dobson. Dirt road, narrow in many places. Good information spots on the way. Large car park at the end. We walked round the lake it was a sunny day but still wore my fleece! Easy walk about 30 minutes.
