Taking an hour to go to Johnson's Island to visit the Confederate Cemetery was well worth the time. There's really nothing else to do on that island, but we felt the cemetery was worth the visit.

Doesn't matter if you are from the north or the south this is a reminder of what people sacrificed. The group has done an amazing job of honoring these fallen soldiers.

Worth visiting if you are in the area. Interesting story about Confederate POWs and subsequent efforts to remember them by the Daughters of the Confederacy.

It costs $2.00 cash (only) to drive across the causway. The machine that lets you onto the island will only take dollar bills so be sure to take a few dollars with you.

I did not see anything posted but there is a fence. I am sure daylight hours only because of people messing with graves on such a somber place.
