About
A venue of enhanced creativity, Goumas Estate - Art & Wine is located at Trilagkada, near the mountainous settlement of Maries, northwestern Zakynthos. Two different but connected worlds of creation cohabit its spaces; an icon painting workshop and a boutique winery. Both live on the hard work, passion and life of Giatras-Goumas family, confined in a traditional, refurbished home made of stone.

Worth of a visit during our stay in Zante. Only accessible via a car hire or organised trip, but we’ll worth it.
See the winery, process and get to sample their very own produce. In addition they have olive oil testing as part of their farming and finally you can learn about the owners artistry and painting interests. Specifically his demand to paint scenes and biblical figures in Greek churches. Interesting! Personally, I found it very interesting, but wine quality not in same league as others across Europe, none the less quite drinkable. If you have 30 mins on your travels in Zante, then go for it.

We took a 40 minute scenic drive from Porto Roma in Vassilikos up to Trilagkada which is near the mountainous settlement of Maries in North Western Zakynthos
Here we visited Goumas Art & Wine where I ticked wine tasting off my bucket list.
Beautiful location, all kinds of fruit trees Lemons, Quince, Pomegranate, Figs as well as Grapes and Olives.
Some of the Olive trees are 500 years old!

Fantastic experience tasting 8 wines along with some complimentary homemade nibbles. (Bread, Olive Oil, Cheese and Fig with Fig Syrup)
We bought 3 bottles of wine and some fig syrup, I wish we could have taken more.
Lovely couple. Friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and passionate.

Not just a vineyard, at his workshop on the estate Giannis creates icons and portraits on wooden canvas, as well as frescos on a golden background. Many of his works illustrate the interior of several temples and churches in Zakynthos, Athens and elsewhere in Greece.

Definitely check this place out!

This winery was for sure one of the best places we visited during our stay in Zakynthos. The wines are exquisite, the welcome is so easygoing and calm. We loved it here. The tour around the wine gardens + the wine tasting is 10 euros per person. We literally fell in love with this place! The lady who showed us around and managed the wine tasting was lovely and also made all of these small dishes to go with specific wines. This was all amazing!

This is a beautiful, family owned winery. The vineyard and location are stunning. The hosts are super nice! The wine is amazing, especially their award winning rose. I wish I had more space in my suitcase! Make sure to pay this winery a visit if you are in Zakynthos. The host will welcome you with a lovely glass of wine and some home made cheese and bread while enjoying a beautiful view. Highly recommend this place!

Great place to visit! The family is very friendly and original. Would visit again very soon. The wines are bio and great. If you are lucky you can participate in activities of Yannis the owner such as cultivating, harvesting etc

As soon as you step into the Goumas estate, you are transferred to another dimension. Serenity, taste and good honest work ooze out of every stone. It’s you, the mountains, the vineyard, the stone rooms, and the gods of nature. Giannis is a saint-painter having taken many projects of orthodox church renovation and decoration. He creates his wines like he creates his art: with diligence, honour and sophistication. Despina is also a creature of art, a talented and resourceful multitasker, gliding like a fairy from the vineyard to help with daily chores, to the kitchen to produce unique handmade jams and cookies and caramelised fruit symphonies, to the dance-school to keep following her passion and keeping her body and spirit balanced and tuned.
Have a sit with these two very interesting artists. Taste the unique wines - make sure you don’t miss the smoked wine!
Sample the homemade delicacies!
And indulge into the most Greek experience you can have: great food, great wine, and deep conversation on a little slice of heaven!

We stopped at Goumas Winery on a whim after seeing signs along the main highway directing the way. (We actually missed a turn, but eventually ended up finding it, LOL.) When we arrived, we were surprised to find we were the only visitors. The property was very quaint & after receiving a quick tour of the grounds along with a bit of history, we were lead to the tasting room. We tried 5 different wines & were even given a small plate of nibbles to pair with the tastings. The experience was intimate & very enjoyable as we learned so much directly from the owner. We purchased 2 bottles to bring back to the States, although I wish we had purchased more!

I love Robola. I know this variety from Kefalonia - it gives fruity, acidity and fresh wines.
As I know Art&Wine is the only producer Robola wines on Zakynthos and its - for sure - the best white wine on whole island.
They also produce great olive oil and Petimezi (grape syrup).
This is "must see" place.
Χαιρετίσματα από την Πολωνία και να είστε καλά.
