I hesitate to leave a negative review because I encourage anyone to visit Civil War battlefields, especially lesser known ones like this one. However, we drove out of the way to visit this sight only to have trouble locating the new visitors center due to...More

The largest battle fought in the Indian Nations during the civil war. Surprise! Surprise! Indian Territory, present day Oklahoma, was involved in the war. It pitted, Cherokee against Cherokee, Black soldiers against Texans, Indians from all the tribes represented against their own tribesmen, and even...More

It is located outside of Checotah, Oklahoma. It is a gorgeous well preserved battleground that you can drive through. In the beginning of the place are a few stone monuments identifies the state the troops traveled from to fight on this field.
