My excited husband and true Yankee fan was happy to see this site. See the barn where Mickey practice is worth the effort to stop in this town of Commerce.

The home is not in good shape as an exhibit. However the barn is a classic. You can stand there and hear the balls hitting the old tin whenever the six year old Mickey missed on his swing. Or glass shatter at the house when...More

Seeing the house where Mickey Mantle lived as a youngster is reason enough to visit this site, but the barn on the property was equally interesting to me. The beat-up, rusted corrugated metal barn served as the backstop for the batting practice that was vital...More

Not much to see here; just house and garage. Plaque on front of house gives information about when Mickey Mantle lived here up to age three. Small wood house in fairly run-down neighborhood. Had to see one of our childhood hero’s former home.

This was not on my original Route 66 plan. But, what a gem to discover at the last minute! So glad we were able to find out about it and go! You have to go through a less-than-desirable residential area to get there. However, despite...More

Was an amazing stop. Wasn’t able to go in but taking pics through windows was enough. Was able to take a friend who is a life long fan from childhood at 75 yrs old, meant the world!

On a route 66 road trip, this was a quick, easy stop. Mickey Mantle's house is closed to visitors, but you can wander around the outside and look in the windows. There is a plaque on the outside describing his home and boyhood. If you...More

We almost bagged this because of the reviews that said it was hard to find. Don’t believe those reviews. It is easy to find and I’m glad we made the time to drive by. Directions: Drive north on Main Street in Miami; it forks right...More

We went up and down the street a few times, and the only residence we could find at this address was a trailer.
