I was scouting locations for next summer to hike and kayak with a friend of mine. We decided to drive to the top and check it out. The views were breath taking but the trails looked a little scary to me. Don't think I'll be hiking up this high and on such a steep trail. You hurt more when you... More

Great short hikes/walks and amazing views. Fun for families! Get out and see some cool stuff not far out of town, and learn about the area at the same time.

We hiked here two days. The Visitor Center was closed and Paulina Lake area was closed. WIsh I knew why. It didn't stop us. We parked our car and walked to the waterfall which was a pleasant walk. We parked near the closed Visitor Center and walked on the Lava Land trail. Our last hike on a volcano was in... More

After Crater Lake, it was a letdown for this old hiker. Cascade Loop was no big deal, great for RV's & fishing. Paulina Rd got snowy & foggy at viewpoint. Falls were nice Go to Oregon Caves, not here.

Really enjoyed hiking in area. There are also tons of biking trails as well. Beautiful scenery along the way.

If you like driving old gravel roads and seeing beautiful views....this Paulina Peak was made for you. Do yourself and your soul a favor and visit this place. It is a drive, but being up there on the peak, looking at the views around you, is absolutely inspiring. Trust me, it's worth it. P.S. SUPER WINDY up there, so be... More

This really is a must visit when one is in Central Oregon. The Newberry Caldera is a vast volcanic crater that has two lakes inside. The roads are good and the first stop is often the vista point looking out over the Cascade range to the west. Your second stop should definitely be Paulina Falls (pronounced "pull-lie-na" by locals), a... More

Don't miss the obsidian flow interpretive walk above Paulina Lake. That was the highlight for my 11 and 12 year old boys.
