In the Central Oregon Badlands, this is a good trail with open views, lots of very old Juniper and nice rock outcroppings. Some trails have slight remains of old homesteads. We like this trail especially after a rain as the somewhat sandy soil is compact...More

We did this hike in January so it was still cold and of course it was the dead of winter, but it was still beautiful. It is a simple hike. Well marked trail. It is nice when you don't have a lot of time, but...More

We did this trail early this month. It is a fairly flat 5 - 6 mile hike through the Badlands (translation sand, rock and junipers) to a high point called Flatrock. If you just do the Flatrock trail, it around 5.5 miles. If you combine...More

People either love desert screnes or find them monotinous. There's no chance of monotiny ont his trail. Ancient junipers, views of the Cascades and big open skies await you. Well worth the time.

We liked that on a sunny winter day you can go for a nice walk. Old growth juniper trees and open areas. Just a short drive east of Bend.

The trailhead is almost directly across from Mile Marker 16, headed east out of Bend, Oregon. The trail is wide and well marked. There is no water! NONE! Don't go in the summer as this is the Badlands! Hot, dry and dusty. That being said,...More
