Cool to look at but no parking and in a guys yard. Big tree but that's about it. It was hard to find on the google maps due to the location and there isn't any clear signs advertising.

This is one magnificent cypress tree. Planted in the 1850's by one of the areas original settlers, the tree is in wonderful condition, strong and healthy looking. You can see it from hwy. 101, but if you pull off the road at the "Chetco Museum" sign you can park right next to it. Someone mentioned not being able to park... More

beautiful tree. and so totally awesome that it's right here in our hometown. stop on your way through, or if you live here, take time to visit the cool museum and the tree. the tree, which goes by 'monty' (a blake monterey cypress) is awe inspiring. its circumference is more than 34 feet and its more than a 130 feet... I wonder where to park vehicle here if the museum is close (open Saturday and Sunday). We drove around and couldn't find a "legal" place to park. I came out to take pictures while husband still in a car. Like others said, it can be seen from highway 101 on east side.

This tree was planted on this spot over a hundred years ago. There are flowers and a nice little path leading up to it. If you like to read the history of a place you should pull off on this little side road and check this out.

Interesting little museum and the tree really is huge. The picture is of the tree with my 6'2 husband standing under it.

So worth it. You can actually see it from highway 101 on east side. Museum only open Sat. and Sun. Enjoy

It is a big tree. Therefore, it is easily seen from 101. The surounding landscape is park-like. Nice place for a rest from driving.
