On our way out of Coos Bay after a short stay, we dropped into see the history museum and thought that it was well-worth the hour-plus we spent browsing the exhibits. The museum does a good job of providing digestible nuggets of information about the...More

A step back into time with a visit to this great museum. The museum covers the history of the once important lumber industry, it people and native people. Very interesting and informative.

After we paid our admission fee, what a pleasant surprise to be greeted by a guide who then explained in detail the museum layout to us, making us feel very comfortable. Usually, museums just take your money, hand you a brochure and you're on your...More

Good place to stop and get a feel for the area. very friendly staff who shared some local stories which I often find are more interesting than the exhibits. AARP discount.

Do not pass by! This is a real sleeper - one of the better museums I've been in for years. I just didn't have time to take it all in! there is something for everyone.

There are so many things to learn from the exhibits. We had a great time walking through there and reading all the placards . Especially liked the "I am not invisible" exhibit. All about women veterans.

Very well organized, top quality displays, well-thought out presentation. Covers settlement, overland transportation & infrastructure development, and timber & fishing. Plan on 1 1/2 hours. Worth the visit; no disappointment. 2 minutes South of "The Mill" casino, 2 minutes north of the galleries & boardwalk.
