we can all hope that the next version of Hayward may be even better -- e.g., just a bit more leg room would be nice

Really...this is Track Town USA. This is where Prefontaine ran. This is where Nike was born. Half the sports venues around here, and the law school, are named after Phil Knight. If you don't know who he is then you don't know anything about athletics....More

Hayward Field has been demolished ehile a new, state-of-the-art venue is built. It is not expected to be completed until April 2020, and will host thr 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials.

It has been demolished since the early summer 2018 to be replaced by a brand new track field. For many fans of athletics this is an irreparable loss. We know what we lost. We don’t know what we gain. Will see.

The yells of the crowd is deafening but supportive. These athletes pour their heart and skills out. The seating, has a very old school feel to it. DaveHW

We were lucky enough to see a track and field event at the historic Hayward Field. The college campus is beautiful and the field felt nostalgic. Beautiful venue.

Last time I checked, it's open for anyone to run around as long as there's no official school event, class, or some bigger happening going on. I used to run around on it all the time.

Don't plan on bringing anything into the venue. They want you to purchase "extras" from them, i.e. food/beverages. Best to leave the extras in your vehicle or at home, so you don't have to take them back if refused entry.

You may not be able to get a seat right by the finish, but I sat in Section U in the beginning of the week and had excellent views of the runners crossing the finish, as well as good views of the field events.
