Photo op, bring light jacket as the weather can change but mostly nice. Roaming on foot is best. Surf is always very cold with lots of different shells on the beach.

We were in the area to see Thor's Well, so we decided to drive a bit further to see the Heceta Head Lighthouse. The drive was beautiful and so was this lighthouse and the area around it. There was parking near the beach, along with...More

If you've read my reviews of other places on the OR coast, you'll likely notice a trend; someone told me to go to a spot, I assumed it was "secret" or something along those lines, then I figured out this was not the case, the...More

No matter how many times I have seen the lighthouse, both close-up and from the highway, I am pleased by the view. Introduced my Delaware brother-in-law to it, and he became an Oregon Coast lighthouse enthusiast. That about says it all.

A very well-maintained trail leads from the lot to the lighthouse. Definitely an uphill climb, but should be pretty easy for most people. We headed west to the coast from Eugene, so this was one of our first stops along the coast, and a great...More

I’ve never been to a lighthouse so I didn’t want to miss this one. Got there after 4 so missed the tour. Great vantage point across the street. Drive in and out is lovely.

Yes, I believe the trail is always open. It is a fair hike up there. The trail isn't really steep, but it does ascend about 1/2 mile in a fairly short distance. The view is well worth it, though, if you can handle the... More

I would expect not but the views and sounds of the ocean should be enough to keep you engaged.
