We tried to visit as many lighthouses as possible during our Oregon coastal road trip. Cape Blanco was beautiful. When we arrived it was extremely cold and windy, but we are not ones to shy away from an adventure. The coastline was gorgeous and we got some amazing pics. When we arrived it was overcast and cloudy (see pics), but... More

Always liked this lighthouse when visiting Oregon. Got there late and they close the gate. When they do they do not want you walking up the road to the lighthouse which is a disappointment because the view is beautiful.

We got there late, so it was closed, but we could read about the lighthouse and the life of a lighthouse keeper. It was a nice hike from our camp ground and we saw a heard of deer on the way.

As part of our visit to the state park, we drove all the way down to this lighthouse. It was otherworldly. You could tell you were someplace special. The views north and south down the coastline were completely unrivaled. The park rangers so kind and chatty- in a good way. The place was immaculately kept and we enjoyed the slightly... More

The day we went was somewhat wet and windy but this only added to the experience. Despite the weather we could see some way out to sea and what a rugged looking coast. The sign said that the Lighthouse was shut on the day we visited, so we didn't get to climb up to the lens. Area is well worth... More

Well know place for wind stuck on an outcrop and high up. Therefore great views in all directions. Tours available, but passed as we had seen several lighthouses by them. The visitor centre is interesting but brief. Only basic restrooms.

Great views and an outstanding location for short hikes. Be sure and stop at the Hughes House on your way to the lighthouse. Really enjoyed the very knowledgeable guided tour.

As we explored the southern Oregon Coast in September we visited the Cape Blanco Lighthouse. The volunteers that manned the lighthouse were very knowledgeable about the history of the lighthouse and were a wealth of information. Admission is free with a National Parks Pass and $2 without it. The climb to the top/lens was steep with a ladder near the... More

Loved our tour of the Cape Blanco Lighthouse. We learned about the lens used in the lighthouses along the coast and that each lighthouse has a distinct blinking pattern. When we got to the top, I remembered that I don't do heights well. The view out to the ocean was beautiful. I certainly didn't look straight down!
