Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There’s a sign up at the park that reads:
“Historic park restoration. Fountain closed for remainder of 2018. This fountain is under renovation and will be shut down as we complete restoration of the four historic parks within the Portland open space sequence. Anticipated completion by summer 2019.”

I love the fountain. It's really a masterfully-designed sculpture. The park is decent, taken up mostly by the fountain. Some areas smelled like pee, but it's in the middle of the city so what can you expect? Otherwise very clean. Worth stopping by when you're in the neighborhood.

I think this place is a well-kept secret. It's across from the Keller Auditorium, off the "main drag" of downtown, and nearly invisible unless you are on 3rd Avenue--it looks like an average flat park from 4th. Salmon Street fountain gets all the press, but this one is even more fun for dipping your feet in and watching the kids play on a hot day. If you are lucky, the Hawaiian food cart will be there too.

The water was not on when we went to this park. The park was near the area of protests so we don't know if the water was shut off because of that or because it was after Labor Day. We found many of the attractions that we wanted to see "closed down" after Labor Day as it was the end of summer.

My husband and I walked here during our short time in Portland, only to find the fountain completely dry. There were NO signs posted as to why, in mid June, the fountain would be off. I looked it up on the parks & rec website and it only indicates "closed for repairs." It was a disappointment, at least post some signs.

This is just a cool, sculptural water garden across from the Keller Auditorium. I have gone here with a picnic to meet friends many times. Kids and adult love it. It is part of a very walk-able Portland.

This waterfall is across the street from Keller Auditorium and is very nice. The only draw-back is that sometimes you find some transients "bathing in it!"

It's great to watch and view while waiting for a show to start at the Keller across the street. But it's in a cement block of down town and nothing around it really. Great to watch if it's on, also used in a few back drop shots in some movies and show filmed in Portland, if you're into that sort of thing.

The Ira Keller (PDX Mayor at the time of construction) Forecourt Fountain is a gem of modern urban landscape design. Designed by Lawrence Halprin it is a modern interpretation of the waterfalls in the Oregon Cascades in concrete. The fountain reflects mountain streams, ponds, and waterfalls with conifer trees and scrubs. It is a wonderful place to just walk thru, pause and relax, or wade on a warm day. It includes a cove when you can stand or sit behind the cascading waterfall.

But the park is showing it’s age at almost 50 years old. It has been closed for about a year for a much need renovation.

In the Portland business district is quite a treat to the senses. Ira's Fountain is one of the biggest water works in Portland, OR. This is a man made structure or should I say work of art in the most abstract way. The amount of water flowing through the different waterfalls is really quite loud. A tremendous amount of water is pumped and recirculated through the system. It is very attractive in a basic sort of way. It is certainly worth the extra time to drop by and have a quick look at it. The best part of all, is that it is free. No admission fee. Parking is a little tight though, because of the business district.
