As my title says, this is just a big square in the middle of Dowtown Portland but it does have a starbucks and some food carts and is a great place to use as a 'base' when traveling. We always parked near here and used it as a central point from which to venture out to different areas. The old... More

something you should see if you are in Portland! be there when the clock strikes noon, take a picture with the man with the umbrella statute, sit on a nice day in the chairs or the steps on the bricks!

This could be a great place, but there are too many homeless and druggies and rich kids posing as beggars.

Pioneer courthouse square would be great to spend a few hours in downtown Portland. There are many upscale restaurants, bars, hotels and shops. I visited on New Years Eve, and a huge Christmas tree dominated the square. It felt very safe and many people were enjoying themselves. It is well service by tramways, the Max lines and buses. Would be... More

No visit to Portland would be complete without a visit to Pioneer Courthouse Square. There are some lovely fountains and year round there is usually something happening in the square. If you happen to hit an off time then you are just about assured to encounter some of the individuals who are busy keeping Portland weird. Wander a bit and... More

Nice area visually when the Homeless or Full time Protesters/whiners are not clogging up the square. Which is about half the time. Cool events are held there as well as a beautiful Christmas Tree (Holiday Tree if you are PC). Local TV station has News Broadcast there and a very nice area info office is located as well as a... It all depends when you visit what kind of square you encounter ... Sometimes, they have the entire thing fenced off for some event that you have to pay to go into. That's what happened recently when we went down to see the holiday tree. Other times, though, there can be a Farmer's market there, and visitors can find tasty... More

I love this place. It's called Portland's living room. All sorts of activities go on here. Gardening items in the late spring, concerts. and Christmas tree lighting in December. And believe me, much, much more.

There is always something going on at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Currently there is a huge Christmas tree, but there are also protests, farmer's markets, Zumba marathons, and many other events throughout the year.

A nice square that has a very vibrant feeling to it. It is conveniently located to the MAX and to some coffee shops and other places to walk. The square itself is a good view, but mainly they offer a number of events that are held in the square and a fun to enjoy. The last time I went they... More
