This is an important piece of Portland's urban landscape, and anyone interested in architecture and/or urban design should visit here. Yes, there are usually some weird street people, but it seems very safe to me. Enjoy a picnic on the steps in front of the fountains, relax and read a book, or just take in the local vibe.

great place to people watch. Very historical. Lots of activities to do. I recommend going but I felt like I had to hold tight to my purse.

Great history and area to start your visit to Portland. Love all the programs and activities that they plan for the public in the square.

It isn't called Portland's living room for no reason. This is the center of downtown Portland. I highly recommend seeing this if you are visiting Portland as a tourist; just so you can say you have been to Pioneer Courthouse Square. If nothing else stop in at the Starbucks that overlooks the Square for a tasty beverage. If you visit... More

This square is weirdoville, and full of miscreants and street people. Go at your own risk. If you miss the riots, you will encounter the bums.

You never know what is going to be happening here. Every day is different (it could be celebration of beer, farmers market or a protest). Located in the heart of the city, there is something new always going on.

As my title says, this is just a big square in the middle of Dowtown Portland but it does have a starbucks and some food carts and is a great place to use as a 'base' when traveling. We always parked near here and used it as a central point from which to venture out to different areas. The old... More

something you should see if you are in Portland! be there when the clock strikes noon, take a picture with the man with the umbrella statute, sit on a nice day in the chairs or the steps on the bricks!

This could be a great place, but there are too many homeless and druggies and rich kids posing as beggars.
